Subject: Anyone got Carrara 4?

Hi,I'm playing with Carrara 4 demo version. After the initial delight of a frame that takes 1min 45 sec to render in Poser only taking 50 secs in Carrara, and looking much better,I realised that the textures are going to be a problem.Does anyone know if you can import a Poser figure ,apply Carrara textures to it and save it and then substitute it for the figure when you load new Poser scenes into Carrara?Unfortunatly the demo version of C4 is save disabled.

When you say, "apply Carrara textures" I'm not sure what you mean. Do you want to apply Carrara shaders to your Poser figure? You can do that if you want. I usually just import the figure with maps that were applied in Poser already attached. Sometimes the maps don't make it through the import process in which case I just reapply them in Carrara. Only takes a minute or two even if there's a bunch of material zones.

I have Transposer plugin and it is supposed to load Poser files in Carrara4. But no textures are loaded with Poser files in my Carrara4 version using Transposer.Eovia support say it because my Poser .exe is not localised in defaut location( c-program files-curious lab-poser5-poser.exe).Mine is in E-Poser5-poser.exe.I doubt about it.I have used Transposer with Carrara3 without problem and my poser.exe was in the same place on my hard drive.Frustrated! So ,according to my experience ,test it before and have your Poser soft in the defaut location.Good luck

Hmm. I have both Poser and C4 Pro on an external hd, although otherwise the Poser path is the default. I dont' usually have trouble getting textures in through Transposer, but it does happen sometimes.

Draught, The answer to your original question is Yes --certainly for C4Pro. It should also work for C4 with Transposer just as it did with C3. How anyone survives WITHOUT C4PRO I really don't know! How's that for a plug!
