I've been reading about the MSN work and thought I should put out a heads up on a trojan that seems to be floating around. I don't use MSN so they're not the culprit here. For the last week and a half, I've had to clean my system almost everytime that I get off the net. As I regularly only visit a few sites, I thought people might want to be on the alert. If anybody else is seeing this and has any idea where it's coming from, please post it here.

A lot of trojans can replicate themslves so even if you delete the original a copy remains. Hence immediate reinfection. Try AVG 7 0- www.grisoft.com or a dedicated killer for the EXACT version of the nasty you have.

I don't like "off brand" anti virus programs. It's been my direct experience that they're just not as good as the bigger names, who have lots more resources to devote to the product. I used to use one until I got a virus on my system (found it by accident, long story). I got Norton and bam, no more virus. bonni

I've always used Norton and, touch wood, I've never had a virus. It auto-updates nearly every day. I also run Adaware and Spybot every few days, and keep them up-to-date.

I thought Spybot was okay too but then I went to Webroot and purchased Spysweeper which found a further 300 cases of spyware and a Trojan horse that Norton couldn't do anything with. Admittedly you have to pay for Spysweeper but Spybot could not take out a file that had a ~dfn extension or the program that produced it, and it popped up every time I went on the net, gradually getting more and more frequent. Normally I don't bother looking at the alerts for cookies that try to download, but happened to glance at one just now (when I was on yahoo.co.uk). It originated from reporting.tvlicensing.co.uk/cgi-bin/redflash etc. etc. I'm hopping mad, and have complained to them. I don't live in the UK, what the hell business is it of theirs to track my browsing habits? That's what you expect from sex sites. Went to spysweeper and ran the free scan. It found a trojan - sexkitten dialler. That's what you get for giving your nephew access to your computer to 'look up important stuff' while you run out to the shops :^(

To Whom it May Concern: I got the Microsoft Antispyware Beta program, and it found 37 "Trojan Downloaders" that everyone else missed... Norton Spyware Doctor Ad-aware Spybot-Search and Destroy Included. Now, someone laughed at me for using the Microsoft Security analyzer, but I really found those using the new Microsoft product. It also found 155 file errors (missed), and 19 registery errors (missed). I'm not so hard pressed to turn it down.
