I don't hang around here that much, so I don't know if this already has been taken to discussion. Whatever. I'd like if there could be some monthly contest or so. The monthly challenge has no winners, so there isn't that exiting to contribute and watch. It's just like any other gallery, exept it has a theme. Could that be possible in some way?

Hi parasite The Photo Challenge, is a long time tradition, and is more of a sharing of images, rather than a true contest. Just so no one will panic, The monthly Photo Challenge will remain as is, a non-judged sharing of images. However, we are always open to new ventures and are willing to kick around contest ideas. For me there is already the quarterly banner contest for those that want to enter, and the monthly challenge, which IMO isnt boring but rather inspiring, to challenge ones self rather than compete for the top position. Moreover there is allot going on, if there is another competition then less time will get spent on what we already do. Maybe a bi monthly themed comp but feel that a monthly one would sell the challenge short.

I think an every so often Honest to Goodness - down and dirty - tons of waaaaaaay kewl prizes - lots of winners - just for photographers - Contest - could be fun. Not something we would do each month - but perhaps once or twice a year?? I will get the prizes - and let you all come up with a group to work on the contest theme and rules :P Dee-Marie

Dee-Marie, I would invite such a contest with a prize or two. The prize would NOT be my reason for entering anything, however. More pleasing is the very idea of having actually done an image worthy of it! As for comments on the monthly challenge, this allows some of us who are not great photogs(as we would like to be! : ) have opportunity to work a theme. That is self challenging and no winners are needed. It is easy for each viewer to select personally the favorite they have an no fanfare needed. The open attitude of the monthly challenge is one aspect making it appealing to me when I know I cannot openly compete with D. Holman or sometimes(it is a joke, Tedz) with Tedz. I still get a shot at giving "someone" my view of the theme, whether the image is a really good one or just so so... In my profession I welcome the work of newbies and work with them as best I can to help them develop their skills and means of expressing creativity. That works for me with no arrogance needed or desired. The monthly challenge puts me in the moderate level and still offers a chance to display...I need that opportunity with out judgment. The comments if any from viewers are enough. So be it on monthly challenge. Ok,,enough wandering thought. Have a night with sweet dreams. Tom.

Just so anyone doesn't think so: I didn't mean that the monthly challenge would be taken away, I just would like to see some kind of contest too, like in www.deviantart.com or www.cgtalk.com
