Hi Taltos Great questions
That seems a bit unfair, don't you think Dee-Marie? Isn't this a best of Renderosity book? I would say the contest guidelines are very misleading by saying published anywhere else in print. Can you please clarify this or direct me to someone who can answer this for sure? I've spent a good bit of time trying to decide what to enter and would hate to hear that it is all for naught. If this is the case, then what if we were to alter a Renderosity gallery image somewhat for use in the book? Most people post their best stuff here and don't save it. I think the majority of people submitting would think that if the image was only used on Renderosity then it would be okay to submit. Thank you. --Kort

"Images must not have been previously published anywhere else in print." Therefore, if an image was simply uploaded to an online gallery...any online gallery and not printed in another book or publication, YES, it is eligible. Dee-Marie you would be right in other contest but this one the rules state "Print" so any images uploaded to our gallery would still be eligable as long as they haven't been printed in any book or publication. To set the record straight. When we published articles for the Renderosity Magazine, they had to be unpublished articles. Online publication was considered in-print publication ... even though it was published On Line! As per Lillian, it IS ok to submit images for the new Renderosity Art Book, that "have been" published "online" ... However... As a general rule ... If your images have been published anywhere on the web, they ARE considered "Published" artwork, and cannot be submitted as a never before published image. Lillian has clarified that submissions to the Renderosity Book CAN be images published online, just NOT images that have been published in a Printed Publication! This holds true to anything that you may write, and have published online, be it in a contest, on your personal web site, or for an online publication. Once your article or image is in public view, it is considered published! Sorry for any confusion, pertaining to the Renderosity Book entries! Dee-Marie
Thanks Dee-Marie. I understand how things could have gotten a bit mixed up here. Combing through my possible entries now. :) --Kort

I just read quickly through the info about the Renderosity Book. I just had a couple of questions.
First, it states that the work should not have been published in print before. Does that include online? Generally, from what I've seen on other forums (mainly related to writing), posting your work online for the public counts as published. On the other hand, if you password protect the file, and the only people who view it have the password, it's considered unpublished. Where would images posted to the Renderosity gallery fall?
Second, what happens to your submission fee if you are not selected for inclusion in the publication? Is that money lost?
