okay guys, ya'all know how fond i am of taking weird reflection images. here's my latest that i took this afternoon. i was experimenting. i came up with "Photographic Tribute to Van Gogh." It's ok to laugh your asses off...ya'all know i don't mind. Tribute you say??? Poor Vincent is probably screaming in his grave as we speak. "No...no...don't let her do it!!!!" LOL! anyway, let me show you. tell me what you think...honestly please!!! i know i'm a nut and i know some of my stuff is laughable. i can take your tomatoes!!!! LOL! :)

oh yeah...i also increased the contrast in the blue one. this next one...uh...i can't remember how i got this effect. something under "artistic effects" in PSP7 i think.

uh...and then i decided to really experiment. i found this image i did for the "dreaming" challenge last month and thought..."well, why not? let's see what happens!" ok guys...let's hear your thoughts and ideas please!!!! thank you soooooooooo much for putting up with all my insane experimenting!!!!! muuuuuuuuuaaaaaahhhhhh! hugz!

I like the B&W and the 3rd one best. The Dream one has to much of a cut and paste look. Perhaps if you soften the edges and did a ripple filter to that layer it would help.

Thanks for the advice!

your wish is my command. i've rippled and softened. hmmmm...???? maybe back to the drawing board??? perhaps the trash can??? LOL! nope...not trashin' this puppy. i like it for some reason. i think it's silly!!! :) damn...look at my ear!!! maybe i need to cut a piece off!! hahahahaha!

Personally, I prefer the original. The shapes on the surface of the water are defined. Maybe an idea to convert it to greyscale and then shapen edges. Just an idea. I spend hours playing around in PSP7 doing this sort of stuff for fun. Why do I do it, no idea. Never post any. Well except Bio-Cat yesterday. Steve

thanks Steve! i like the ones without me in it!!!! anyway, and YOUR wish is my command. here ya go...greyscale...sharpened. yeah, i love to do play with images too!! loads of fun! why don't you upload any??? Bio-Cat was a hoot!

UKmac ( ) posted Wed, 16 February 2005 at 11:26 PM

Thanks. Yep I like that to, Like the greyscale or original, not to keen on the coloured ones but they are growing on me after looking again for the 4th time. Bio-Cat really needs more work on the edges but run out of time. It went really down well at work. Keep it up, love your abstract art works. Steve

thanks so much steve!!! i'm glad somebody digs my abstracts!!! LOL! i know they're a bot odd, but i enjoy them too!!!! glad your kitty went ofer so well! :)

Who was this van Gogh? I have looked for the Gallery...is He in Digital Comics?

tvernuccio ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 11:21 AM

Digital Comics??? i'm gonna kick your butt!!! i'm trying to explore some different directions with my photography...hoping to do a bit a surreal work. i find it verrrry difficult. i guess i just need to keep practicing and looking at your gallery. i'm a poor student sometimes! :(

cynlee ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 11:29 AM ยท edited Thu, 17 February 2005 at 11:32 AM

sheila! you're not a poor anything... you have more insight & sensitivity in your little finger then most... i see what you're trying to do... i like 6 myself but might have to watch that ear :] ...my suggestion would be to have yourself placed in this compo a little larger, staying offcenter... & i like seeing your thought process in this work :] Tedz!! :(

I like the third one. To me Van Gogh used color. Particurly yellow and blue. So the b/w don't remind me of VG. Bsteph

tvernuccio ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 2:34 PM

thanks guys for your input! Cindy...that stupid ear has been problematic from the very beginning!!! LOL! i really do think i should just cut it off to match Van Gogh's!!! i'll try your suggestions after work maybe and see what happens! and that for what you said!!! sometimes i can be dense and insensitive though. guess we all can! Brian...where did THAT come from??? are you down in the dumps????? your gallery is most certainly NOT full of crap!!! don't make me kick your butt!! bsteph...yes, you're right, none of the others remind me of Van Gogh. i just wanted to show the original photo and my succession of events that led up to this Van Gogh tribute. i love the 3rd one too. just wish i could turn it into something spectacular. i just need to practice and keep experimenting all the time. Exploring different ideas and directions is always good. but before i can be successful, i'm gonna produce a lot of crap. that's just the way it is. I look back at my early attempts at any art I've done and see how far i've come. i'm just a bit slower than most people when it comes to making improvements. but that's ok; we all work at different speeds. thanks so much again, guys!

You're making pretty good art! Van Gogh, who was that again? scratches head Wasn't that the guy murdered in the Netherlands a few weeks ago? Oh, you don't mean Theo! You mean Vincent! The Vincent! How come this makes you think this is van Gogh? It does remind me of M.C. Escher. You write, but before i can be successful, i'm gonna produce a lot of crap Well, come on with that crap! We love it! We want more! starts chanting We want more! We want more! LOL! P.S. It was Malchus who lost an ear (John 18:10). Ewww! ;)

tvernuccio ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 3:28 PM

verrrrry funny, JC!! Yes, THE Vincent!!! ah come on now...don't you see that blue/yellow looks almost IDENTICAL to Starry, Starry Night!!!?? :) well, ok, it's stretchin' it a bit, you're right. but i just can't help but think of Van Gogh when i see it! Wasn't Vincent the one who cut off his ear? you're jivin' me right??!! i never heard of Malchus before. ouchy! but i'll forgive you since you said it reminds you of Escher!!!! Wow!!! You really think so???? kewl!!!! hey, if it's crap you want, it's crap you'll get!! LOL! I'm the CrapMaster of Surreal!!! LOL! Sorry guys, i'm STILL in this really totally crazy, silly mood. maybe i should head to the korner????? :)

Whoopsy, almost forgot the 'van Gogh'-effect! It should be a filter in Photoshop! Click on the 'van Gogh'-button to continue! LOL!

The knights of the cornered table... that just doesn't sound, Sheila! We're all rounded up to watch what crap you're stuffing here! :)

Ladies, it's a placebo button... The funny thing is, buttons seem irresistable and actually I start hitting my head to not connect it with a counter! But ToS and JavaScript, uh.... Well, no big deal! It's just a button! And it should have been included in Photoshop LOL!

addiek ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 12:31 PM

My preference is for the B&W one sheila. Tinting filters (Corel Photopaint) and Sepias seem different from color filters in how they add colors. Intuitively I go for the slow color slide effects of tints first off. The psychadelic style Photoshop color changes can work but the secret of natural color change is to 'see' color saturation and tone as a fine tuning device. I don't know how to explain this, it is a 'that feels right and too much is overkill type sensitivity' Photoshop can radically alter images quickly but I think it takes practice to really master them. Like the piano... practice, practice, practice... have fun!!!

i so much appreciate your input, Ad, and was hoping you'd comment on this. i'm getting ready to leave for work in a sec, but i'll come back and read this again. i certainly do understand and appreciate what you're saying. i guess it just has to do with personal preference and personality too. how i am as a person...well look at those psychadelic blues and greens!!! i mean, i see that and it excites me so much!!! it's me!!! i do love the b/w and think it's very special. but those colors...sigh...well, it delights the kid in me!!! makes my eyes sparkle and shine!!!!! the b/w one doesn't do that. that's the only way i know how to explain why i love it!!! it makes me dance inside! it's like pure energy! ok, well, i seriously gotta run. thanks so much again, and i will definitely give your words much thought and consideration! later gator!
