I've been working with DAZ Studio until my copy of Poser Artist arrived. I actually got pretty good with the thing. Now i discover I have to learn a whole new way of doing things. My biggest problem is figuring out how to get my V3 files into Poser. Do I put each thing in it's respective file in Poser runtime? (like library, textures, etc.) With the DAZ Studio, I kept everything in a folder in "My Documents" and just pointed the program where to go. Can I do this in Poser, or do I need to transfer everything directly into the program files, and if so, is there an easier way to do this instead of an hour or so of individually moving files? Yikes, I feel like a total dummy here. Thanks in advance for hopefully simple instructions. I'm not a puter dummy, but sometimes these things just don't sink in for me. Miriah

I believe Daz products all have .exe installers, don't they? Just take your original purchase file and run it. It will ask for/ look for your runtime and put everything where it belongs. If you for some reason need to do a hand install, then yes, the answer is that everything must be opened and put where it belongs. ::::: Opera ::::

o.k., but what about the assorted freebies I have downloaded? When i try and use the Import function, and go to the files, they appear empty. I suspect I need to use the "read me" that comes with these files and hand place the items? I know Poser 5 content didn't work in DAZ Studio, but these files did, so they should be compatable with Poser Artist (since they were created in poser4) I am finding this aspect very frustrating. LOL

You just have to get used to it. We all do. Such is life. I am sure Poser vets would find some aspect of Studio awkward and frustrating, too. Most things I purchase either have the .exe installer or, they will "unzip in place." This means the package is in a zip archive, you double click it and choose your runtime folder as the destination. If the vendor has done things right, all elements will go into the correct directory. For freebies, maybe you have to do hand placement. ::::: Opera :::::

The File import menu option in poser is to import 3d geometries created by other modelling programs. For installing Poser stuff in zip format open the zip file and see if the files have path names starting with RUNTIME. If they do extract them to the poser folder with 'use folder names' checked.

Thanks, that's what i finally figured out (about the import function) Sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake with these things, but with a little help I get them. THANK YOU!!!! Miriah
