I was checking for tutorials that would deal with this challenge and came across this one by originalmoron, that I think will help new people with the modeling of their flying machines, you'd just need to apply the concepts to your machine....

looks great, but using landscape for the arms is waisting alot of ram what is the size of that gritter?
