randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 1:19 PM

Katherine says it's not the same girl. The P5 box is Vicky. The P6 box is not. (Not Judy, either, so I have assume it's a new figure.)

Obviously, the P6 image is based on the P5 one. May be by the same artist. But it's not the same.

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 1:24 PM

And if you look REALLY carefully, the Poser 5 box is Japanese! This, I believe, was what Japanese buyers got when Poser 5 became available there. Note the amazing similarities, though, to Poser 6. Fodder for thought. :)

Katherine said that that P5 box is a special holiday promotion box they used in Japan. Just for the Christmas season.

Looks like a Judy shoulder joint zone. Hope not.

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 1:43 PM

I have a feeling the P6 people will be modified versions of Don, Judy, etc.

maxxxmodelz ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 1:56 PM

"Looks like a Judy shoulder joint zone. Hope not." I said the same thing in another thread, but no one seemed to agree, or at least not that they acknowledged.

It would be nice if the "new figure" if there is one had the same proportions as V3 so we could use all her outfits that we all already have!

_ "It would be nice if the "new figure" if there is one had the same proportions as V3 so we could use all her outfits that we all already have!" Now what would the be the point of that? You wouldn't have to buy a new wardrobe for the new figures. There wouldn't be a reason for Content Paradise. Think of all the money the merchants will lose. Don't matter to me. I pretty well can model most of it myself now. Don't forget, if you pre order, you get Shade LE. You can model your own stuff too.

To me the girl on the cover of Poser 6 looks like a re-work of Posette. Judy was also a re-work of Posette but if they were done by different people they'll end up looking different up to a certain extent. That would explain the shoulder since it's like Posette's. Quite the detectives we've become with the laconic Curious Labs announcements ;)

Clearly, there is some sort of conspiracy afoot here.

Curious Labs is attempting to control our minds through the use of subtle confusion tactics.

Someone should inform Interpol. No...wait a minute....they are a part of the conspiracy, too.......

_ "www.Poserfreebies.com - new from Sixus1 - Lillan 2. takes V3 maps, Clothes and Hair. (morphs for v3 do not work on L2)." Yes, nice figure, I like it. But, you need to be very careful what texture you use. I tried a 3Dream tex, don't want to go there. Make-up tex, you need to choose wisely. _ "Perhaps the new figures can use V3/M3 texures??? " As an option I hope. As a solution, I'd have yet to see it work.

richardson ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 5:18 PM

LOL Hell, just give me a cancel render button (that works) or just rename it "crash and burn" and I'll be happy. Put a "hope you saved" button on missing file searches, too. I'm easy to please...

Regarding Lilin2: "Yes, nice figure, I like it. But, you need to be very careful what texture you use. I tried a 3Dream tex, don't want to go there. Make-up tex, you need to choose wisely." If someone wants to attach a pic of that to an email and send to Rebekah@sixus1.com I will have Les take a look at it. --Rebekah-- *Sorry that I couldn't add anything real to the thread, I'm not allowed to comment either way on anything :(

Just in case you didn't know, Vicky 1, 2 and 3 are also reworks of Posette. Load Vicky 3 and Posette, put their feet next to each other and switch to wireframe view. Or just read the link and see for yourself.

Picture of P5 japanese box is by Terrace. http://heaven4d.babu.com/net.html CL(or e-Frontier?) changed the face of the picture. He is now sending inquiry to CL. I can't say any more.

h-kana: It looks like more than the face is changed, look at the shoulder, that's not Vicki's shoulder on the P6 box. Did Terrace sell them the rights for the Japanese P5 cover? If so, then they can use it any way they like. In any event, this makes for an interesting turn of events - hope that doesn't delay shipment, I pre-ordered! Helgard, I hadn't seen that thread, I remember the V1/2 compared to V3 so I guess they're ALL the same mesh. Thanks for the link.

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 5:29 AM

Someone in another thread said Vali did the P5 image. Vali=Terrace? Or did they just mean that it's her character?

Stormrage ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 11:18 PM

ummmmm actually if you read cooler's response in that thread you'd see.. "For those of you keeping score: Vicki 1/2 based on a data scan composite of 3 people Vicki 3 (see above) Michael 1/2 based on a data scan composite of 2 people, one of whom is Dan Farr Stephanie 1 & 3 are based (very closely from what I was told) on on a single real person. Her identity, however, is a secret :-)" soooooo posette is NOT vicky 1,2,3 Dork is not Mike 1,2,3

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 11:34 PM

Victoria's shape was based on scans of real people, Stormrage. But the mesh itself was clearly still derived, at least in part, from their original work on Posette.

Stormrage ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 11:44 PM

I can check on it Little Dragon but I am fairly sure that Victoria 1 was a new mesh without any part of Posette. I kind of remember the discussion on how she was created and It wasn't shaping Posette into her. But I'll check just to make sure.

Helgard ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 2:34 AM

Ask any person who does modelling if these three are the same mesh. Some have just had some of the polygons subdivided to make better joints.

Saying a person is based on a real scan means you make that persons shape, like when you make a morph, it does not mean that you have made a new mesh.

The figures from Sixus1, Mayadoll, Seraphira, NextGen, etc, are new meshes.

So, sorry, Posette, Judy, Vicky 1, 2 and 3, Stephanie and any other model based on the unimesh is all just reworkings of Posette. Even the Freak, lol.

Now that's weird! I don't think Stephanie and Stephanie Petite look anything alike.

Interesting mesh comparisons. I guess we can assume that the P6 people will be derived from the P5 people, and therefore also descendants of Posette.

h-kana ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 7:12 AM

Again about P5 Japanese box image. From Terrace's blog: (translated into English) "I gave a permission to use my image for P5 Japanese box. But not for P6 .. nor change/repaint my image" Most of Japanese Poser user knew it.

h-kana ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 7:28 AM

...But sorry, it seems noone is interested in "Who is the girl of P5 box"(nor who made the image). Maybe my comment was slightly OT. But it is true that Terrace made the P5 image.

cooler ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 8:03 AM

h-kana, I don't believe that no one is interested, (I for one certainly am), or that there is any disrespect intended, either towards you for delivering the message or to Terrace's work. I rather suspect that the silence is in anticipation of a reply from Curious Labs.

elizabyte ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 8:43 PM

I'm very interested in the story behind the box, how she got there, etc. bonni

From what I can see since the poser 6 box is so low resolution, I believe it's a different figure, wearing different clothes, you can see a strap on the P6 box. Hair might be the same and as for the wings I can't say. They've slightly shifted the pose so it seems to me that they copied his concept, not used the image itself. However, I don't know enough about copyright to determine what that means for both parties involved. I do hope Terrace can get this straightened out. I was once shopping and saw a magazine which had an image from my gallery here right on the cover, so I know how frustrating it is when someone sees his work being used by others!
