  1. Ok, I have searched googled and looked, IS there on internet any Good step by step tutorials out there on this topic? 2. Also, how can I make a model just Appear in a scene, say like for instance a Romulan Warbird "De-cloaking" (invisible to visible) or something, and then "Cloaking" (visible to invisible as well??? Thanks ahead of time guys!!!!!! JBC!

MoonGoat ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 6:52 PM

Well, JBC, lets see if I can help. 1. I think Brycetech has some interesting 'splosion methods, but the last time I was there, Bryce 4 was the latest version. 2. If you're talking about animation, then you just want it to be there in some frames and gone in others. If you're refering to a sigle scene, it can be most easily done in some brushing in postwork, but you could also try 2D image masking or if you're up to it, make a badass altitude texture that is partly transparent and partly metallic so it looks like a "De-cloaking" spacecraft. So, JabbaBabbaCabba, have fun Brycing and good luck with saving Enterprise! That is what you're trying to do, right?

Yes, sir, I am. I need a really good Step-by-Step one so I can get my animation off the ground, know what I mean? Was that one for animation, also, know of any tut's on how to do the cloaking and decloaking effect in Bryce?

decloaking and cloaking would be a bear..I suppose you could (winging it here, folks..;) render each frame with a more or less translucent glass material, depending on which way you're going. To be honest, this sounds like a job for Postwork..;)

Cloaking should be able to be done by turning the transparent setting to 100 for cloaking then back to 0 for uncloaking. As for explosion do a search on this forum, many threads on it.

Mahray ( ) posted Thu, 24 February 2005 at 2:38 AM

A few things to note with the cloaking, turn the diffusion and ambience to 0 with the transparency at 100, otherwise you will still be able to see the object. And if you want to have it happen instantly, then have a keyframe at frame x with trans 0, and a keyframe at frame x+1 with trans 100, otherwise it will be a gradual effect, which you may actually want.

Aye, cloaking is a piece of cake, as long as you don't want it to waver a bit (which can also be faked). Transparency should do the trick, although in some cases (Alpha Channels) it won't work on every object in the same fashion... But do your cloaking in the Materials Lab, like Alderon and Mahray suggested... Explosions? Make some fireballs and animate them, and pick the ones you like best...!
