Many artist come and go. Most of them migrate to higher-end software, which is where the money's at for certain, and to a high degree this migration is natural as users move from hobbyism to professionalism. I want to personally thank Draculaz for keeping the Bryce world alive, he has done more than any other single human in keeping us posting and keeping us guessing than any other Renderosity member! Drac, I know you've been off blaspheming Bryce with your Wings usage and OT threading, but I wanted you to know how much you were appreciated here by us. Keep up your dedication, devotion, and your raw talent! We all cannot wait to see what you come up with next.... So here's to you, Drac, and here's to the hopes that DAZ will come up with something substantial to keep us all working with Bryce until the day those canyons actually erode.....! Good to have you with us, my friend...!

I think the people I myself should be thanking are the users of this forum, those who have stuck around even when I have been at my worst (i.e. the entire vapourware debate). I consider this place my digital home on the internet. And what can I say, you poor souls don't really have a choice, either through boredom or out of simple exhasperation, but to read what I have to say ;). You'll get rid of me eventually -either when I really step over the line or if I choose to just leave one day. Either way, I never considered myself an artist, and never will. I do a some okay models and render those, the real weight of what I do being in the modelling and the postwork. I'll never move away from Bryce - even if it gets Poserized or YAFRAY manages to steal a few renders from me due to its better rendering engine.

I would, however, like to take this opportunity and ask that you all do two things. These aren't requests as much as my own advice to you, which I dare to put forward despite being one of the youngest members of this community:

  1. STOP LEAVING THIS PLACE! When you declare that you will be leaving because of any reason other than your own decision to do so, you are putting yourself at the mercy of the mob that any group of people can become sometimes. Your image didn't make it in the hot20, or a member annoys you, whatever. DO NOT. Face that problem, talk about it, receive advice and help from others, but never let someone else dictate your free will! It's the worst form of unassertiveness, of lack of confidence that can ever exist.

  2. The Bryce forum is not a clique or a group of cliques. A clique requires organization, purpose, leaders and minions. Because of Corel's lack of funds and interest in the program, the implosion of the internet bubble, it gave up on it. Being THE easiest mid-end hobbyist app that can be used, and because of Corel's lack of support, we all migrated and specialized in different fields, leaving Bryce only as a final stage tool. Except Bryster. And BamBam. But those two are just... lovable :D

We all use the program for different ends, and that's fine. But there is no clique of modellers or of renderers. It's simply what each and every one of us - uniquely - decided to do with the program.

That's it. Sorry for it being so long, these were 2 things that have been burning my mind for a while now. Many thanks for the thread, LSD, I don't specifically deserve this kind of appreciation, there's better and truer artists out there, people like ICM, Drawbridgep, Rochr, yourself, AS, Ardiva, Zhann, Sams3D, Orbital, bazze, sackrat, TJohn, Tempest, kemal, pakled, xenic, Teebee, ysvry, claymore, bryster, chohole, ang, svaelt, kimpe, frog, alvin, beton, inc, danamo, Flak, foley, and so many others that I'm forgetting atm. These are the people that make the community, as a whole, and not one single individual.

Actually, I guess we should be more concern by Drac's pre-versions into Yafray than Wings..;)
I do owe Drac seriously for showing me how to do things in Wings, via his tuts..couldn't have got here without him..so take care of yourself, young fella..;)

I'd like to thank the academy, my parents, my agent, and of course God, without the help of whom I wouldn't have been able to vote for myself, in receving this oscar. Thank you! drac (has issues with artists voting for themselves)

Talking of votes. I had my comment on the AOM denied because I asked for bribes and some people could have taken that I was being serious. :/

Well i'm back out from the shadows. Yes i know i said i wouldn't post on this forum again but i thought i would say this after reading what i have just read. LSD, that was nice of you to make such a dedication to one person. Don't take this the wrong way but don't you think that in all honesty drac isn't the only one that is appreciated by the many on this forum for his dedication, devotion, and raw talent. Like i said LSD, don't take what i said the wrong way, it was nice of you to put into words what many find hard to say :) Now drac, your turn Muhahahaha. I have been waiting for a time like this and thank you very much for giving it to me. No better still i'll keep quiet for now, might even catch you in #rendergods sometime >:)

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

For some reason, I've noticed that when Americans like myself attempt German, Japanese, Korean, Sweedish, French, Spanish, Mexican, Arabic, or Chinese, it all sounds the same. I wonder what Freud would say about this ...

Now if only someone would do a spoof on the "Real men of genius" commercials based on the original posting. 8D

"For some reason, I've noticed that when Americans like myself attempt German, Japanese, Korean, Sweedish, French, Spanish, Mexican, Arabic, or Chinese, it all sounds the same." Actually, I know a good many Americans over here who can manage a decent Arabic accent. Personally, I've been able to master German, Spanish, French, Arabic, Helium, South Carolinean, and Indian accents over the years. But what I really love is putting on a truly American accent. This is a good place to get laughs out of that one.

lordstormdragon ( ) posted Sat, 26 February 2005 at 9:15 AM

Do you mean Brazilian American or Canadian American, Mentat?!?! All I'm saying is that any creative, constructive actions in this forum only make the Bryce community stronger. And nobody is more active than Drac, in both generals and specifics. Yeah, he models in Wings (Rhino rules, you weenie!) and bugs us about all the minute details of his life, but I fear that we all should be doing just that. If you're working on an image or scene, jump in here and tell us all, and it can only better your scene. Especially since YOU are the one controlling your Bryce, on your computer... I'd really like to see more Work-in-Progress threads, more "shameless" self promotional threads, and more evolution in general when it comes to what we're up to. For those of us who have literally taken the program apart AND for those of us who are new to 3D and CGI... We need more animations, more forum-checkers, and more resource-sharing. Drac is, among others, all about sharing his techniques, styles, and methods. That's pretty much where all of us need to be at to propel ourselves forward. Imagine a ridiculous project where ten or twenty or thirty of us are all focused and creative, and dedicated enough to make something happen. Those somethings are called, "Films". We're on it, it's right at our fingertips... Nobody should be afraid, at this point, to just ask for help, rendering assistance, and planning assistance. Go forth and render...
