Subject: Changing PZ2's

Kinouk ( ) posted Sat, 12 March 2005 at 12:41 PM · edited Thu, 06 February 2025 at 9:21 PM

I know there is a little program the changes .pz2s to .cm2s. Can anyone give me the program name and where to find it. thanks

You can do it yourself. Change the suffix and move it to the camera folder. In the case of Mac, the file ID takes precedence -- resEdit will fix it, or MacConverter.

Thanks Nomuse :) I know how to do it, but i'm lazy. I had a little program that changed all the files at once. My HD crashed and I lost it :(. hugz

The one I use is called Renamer. You can get it at the link above.

It does pretty much everything, including sub-folders, inserting after * character, etc. There are quite a few others, but I'mm happy with this one.

mac Edit - It has a preview too, if you're a coward. LOL.

Well, if you are comfortable with command lines, DOS can rename your PC files quite cheerfully, does batches with ease, and it is already present in any older system.

Search & Replace 98 works fine. I had posted a batch file method but the only way I know that will do subdirectories involves deleting files so I decided against it :-)

Sorry, folks. The link's a dud. He moved his site, and I've put up the new addy.

I also have Search and Replace, which is good for some things, but it's problem is that it just does it. You have no options or previews. One tiny mistake is all you need to blow away a lot of stuff. And even worse, because it also searches inside files, it's capable of changing .pz2 to .cm2 INSIDE the files too. Ungood.

You're right Mac. S&R 98 is designed mainly for replacing text within files. Don't know what I was thinking. I use it to do stuff like change the version No. in Poser files, change paths, etc. It does have a visual prompt and preview feature in the settings though I don't use it for the minor stuff I do. For renaming files there are scads but if you can do with one directory processing, I use Multiren, a PC Magazine utility. It's nice because it installs as a context menu item. Select two or more files in Explorer, right-click and select Multiple Rename to activate it. The regular expressions for changing filenames are a bit annoying (though pretty powerful) but to simply change the extention, it's very easy.
