Hi Everyone I've just started out with Bryce - currently use Poser and PSP. I d/lded some freestuff for B4, a couple of castles, some terrains, fire etc, that I reckoned I could well use. However, turns out they're all "Object presets". Can't import them as they don't show up in the folders concerned, even using All Files option. I'd be grateful for any help given, as I really like the way Bryce renders images - I've just gotten the hang of importing (some) Poser figures.

You import them by clicking the triangle next to Create and selecting a category to put it in then click import. If these are Bryce 5 objects they won't import into Bryce 4. The Import option the in file menu is for importing models from other formats such as .obj, .3ds, etc.

thanx I'll try it - the objects concerned are for B4 so there shouldn't be any conflict - I got my copy of Bryce from a computer coverdisk therefore there's no manual with it to help.

well, the menu comes up fine - with a whole empty user library to put imports in. Unfortunately, if I release the mouse to click on "Import" the menu immediately closes - so, importing is virtually impossible. Is there any way of locking the menu open till I've imported the stuff? Sorry to be so dumb!

Are you holding the mouse button down when making selections or just clicking and letting go right away? Not sure why it would close like that.

think I've sorted it - just closed then reopened Bryce, then found Reset Palettes and that seemed to do the trick - it's up to me now to find out how much I can (or more likely, can't do! lol)

barrowlass, Er, why barrow? Are you buy any chance FROM Barrow? In-Furness? Or is that barrow as in barrow wight? (gg) Fran

I've been making a castle in Wings3D for me to use in Bryce4, it's working pretty good so far. Are you doing a medieval castle scene?

Hi Fran hope your new grandchild arrives ok - you'll have to post a big notice on forum. As I've said I've just started playing with Bryce so I'm not doing anything major just now - just getting the "feel" of it. One more question, if anyone can help. Does having Daz Studio make it any easier to transfer Poser items to Bryce, or do I not really need it. I'm not too bothered about having Studio - like Poser too much!
