Subject: Animation Question on V3/Poser 5/V3 Expressions

blankpixel ( ) posted Mon, 14 March 2005 at 3:35 PM · edited Wed, 14 August 2024 at 1:35 PM

Hi folks, I'm trying to animate a sequence using V3, and so far all is dandy. I've done this a hundred times and never had a problem, although I've never added a blink to the animation before either. So here's the problem. 60 frame animation. at frame 40, blink (left and right) set to zero, at 45 set to .9 and at 50 set to 0 again. This part works FINE. The REST of the animation, frames 0-40, however are all messed up. She negatively blinks, widening her eyes so far it looks like her eyes are going to pop out of her head! The only way I've been able to stop it is to make the blink morphs have a key frame on every single frame where it's set to zero. Suboptimal. Any suggestions, or knowledge as to why this is happening? Thanks! (I would've cross posted to the animation forum but it would seem I can't. Ah well.)

I don't animate with poser but that sounds like a problem with your curves. Open the graph editor and go to the curves for the blinks. I am sure you are going to find something very interesting there (as in the curve going up and then going down at the blink and then up again). You can set the interpolation to "linear" but that's not going to help with the "organic look". You have to edit the curves to make that sections into a straight line. I hope his helps :) <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

Yeah, like Nemric said, but more specificly:

click the key in the bottom right to pull up the animation controls

use your mouse to draw a box and select all of the little green boxes for your figure's head (or to get more precise, expand the head controls and select only the blink parameter)

press the brown button to make all of the little green boxes turn into little brown boxes

your animation will now be linear based rather than spline (curve) based

hope this helps!
