Hi, My pc is still having problems. So its not a loose connection. What I'm wondering is can a video card overheat? If it can, that might explain whats happening. It ran fine all night, then suddenly shut out of windows and wouldn't boot back into it. However when I did boot up I could go into safe mode. So I don't know what's happening. Is there a diagnostic I can run? Also, I'm going to see if it works when I get home, 14 hrs to cool down should be enough time, lol. Thanks, Ang

System specs? I know its fairly new, right?

everything is fairly new except the video card. Abit nf7-s motherboard Athlon 2800 processor older vid card can't remember the name of it :( BTW I got the 512 ram to work by putting it in the other dimm slot (Ang is embarassed)

Don't be embaressed, we learn by experience and just hope it doesn't cook our system. If it's the older GC, check out what it is and find out online if there are any updated drivers, could just be tired like you thought. I would pull it, clean it, reinstall, run your system as best you can. If not off the card, then the system probably has onboard video capabilities, but only use that as a last resort. check your drivers online, & if there are any diags. Maybe someone else has an idea for Diags too. (gotta run) Good Luck Ang

Damn, Im sorry to hear you still having problems with your PC. Check out this site for diagnostics, scroll through these and see if theres a freeware or shareware that might help you pinpoint the problem. Bigfix and Tufftest looks like it might have some promise.

P.S. See if your video card manufacturer has a diagnostic online.

Yes Ang, a cooked (or cooking) videocard can do this - Windows goes into a self protection loop on boot, happens so fast you may not see the messgaes. Bad colour/image issues on the WXP screen before it does. Happened to myself and Cartesius. That is why I suggested swapping out with your other card and see if it stops.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
