Subject: How to attach PhilC's suit to a Poser 5 figure?

mandyyjobs ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2005 at 6:56 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 11:04 PM

Everytime I try to pick the figure - Don Casual Hair nude, and then I go to pick the Free PhilC suit, it just replaces the figure instead of putting the clothes on! I am newbie when it comes to Poser 5, I am used to Poser 3! It is probably something really really simple, if you know, please pass on the info! thanks

Ok, load the Don figure, then when you load the suit, use the two-checkmarks icon (do NOT double-click as that will bring about the result that you have been getting). Then once you have both figures in the scene, select the suit and under the Figures menu (at the top os the screen) select "conform". When the dialog comes up, select Figure1. That will put the suit on Don and make it move with him when you pose him.

Hi Mandy, welcome to the club. This problem is the ritual entryway into Powerdom! With your PhilC suit chosen, you have to click on the Double checkmark, not the single. (The single is a replace command.) Most of us made this error the first day in Poser, so you are among friends. ::::: Opera :::::

Ok, looks good, thanks for that - but what about dynamic hair? I tried to conform that afterwards, but it screwed both the suit and the model up! I am going to export this as an OJB and need to have the hair, suit and everything exported at once, so I need to figure out how to make it all export at the same time - any ideas?

You don't conform dynamic hair. It's parented to the head. Also, I don't thnink Dynamic hair exports well. .

That's too bad. I want to export it into Truespace 6.5, with the textures and everything. I tried it, with just PhilC's suit and such, but it didn't work. I went through LUUV (which is a Truespace Plugin), but all that happens is the figure is dark, with no texture. The suit exported ok, but the texture is not there and neither is the hair. Anyone solved this little problem?

Dynamic hair does not export. Except to Vue, with the Mover plugin. (And even then, it doesn't look that great, IMO.) Poser 5's materials generally don't export, either, at least if they use nodes.

Try using transmapped hair instead. And try applying a basic texture to the suit. Phil may have a procedural texture applied. So far as I know, you can't export P5's procedural materials to any other program, not even Vue.
