Subject: Hair colliding with Body

morphious ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 9:25 AM · edited Sat, 12 October 2024 at 7:32 PM

I can't seem to get the hair to stop entering the body, instead of laying on it naturally. I selected the hair object, and selected the collision option, but it's not working. Anyone have a tip? Thanks.

What version of Poser (5 or 6)? What kind of hair (dynamic or model/transmapped)?

Tools :  3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender v2.74

System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB GPU.

Poser 5 MAC, using V3 with Kozabaro Long hair. But it happens with all hair objects.

Collision for hair in P5 only works with dynamic hair. You have to use morphs and size translations to prevent model hair from colliding with the figure. Even then, it could be tricky to do. If the hair is meant specifically for that figure, then it shouldn't collide when you first apply it, but collision is bound to occur at some point when you pose or animate, and with model-based (geometry) hair, there's not much you can do about it, outside of tweeking any shape morphs, or fixing it in post.

Thanks, I'll try Dynamic hair instead.

Collision won't work with transmapped hair like Koz's. (Are you trying to use Koz's hair in the Hair Room, or the Cloth Room?)

It does work with dynamic hair, but you have to to do it right. (Link is to an example in the gallery. The comments below the image have links to threads that discuss how to make dynamic hair work in Poser 5.)

Where is it colliding and what version of the long hair are you using?
