Subject: Waterfalls, Weather Effects lurking in the Ecosystems...

The amazing effects available in the V5I Ecosystem tells me that with a good Python writer it would be very possible to simulate a waterfall- Take the ocean waves and have them flowing over a cliff- the white water effects would be small white particles flowing along with it. Use the Cumulus cloud Vob object for misty spray, etc... The end effect would be very realistic and of course animatable! Snow- load in some snowflake objects (in freestuff, etc.) and have them flurrying down. The Ecosystem can easily do this with millions of white snowflake instances... Fall Leaves in the wind- five nice fall colored leaves could be the basis for a great "Fall-Autumn Leaves in the Wind" effect using the Ecosystem... I think a lot of great waterfall and weather effects are waiting to happen with the Ecosystem and Python-- perhaps hopefully we will see these in the new Cornucopia Store!

Or maybe there is someone who is skilled enough to write this script. Anybody???

I am certain there are a number of people who can write good Python scripts. They are widely used, of course, in many 3D apps- so hopefully it won't be too far away- especially as many 3D "power users" fall in love with V5I's Ecosystem technology. The question will be- will they do it for free or sell these features? That's why I'm counting on the Cornucopia Store to feature items like this. I'm ready to buy!

I just tried some thing and it worked reasonably well. If you have Paint Shop Pro, create a new image with a black background. Take one of the leaf tubes (I have JASC PSP and it comes with some)and place one or more leaves in the center of the image. Adjust the color to your liking and save it in V5I's bitmap folder. Create an alpha plane in Vue and map the leaf image on it. Use the same image for the alpha map (you might need to reverse the image)to get the transparency correct. Then save the new leaf alpha as a .vob object to use in one of the ecosystem terrains. Not exactly as good as being done with a python script but if your like me and don't really know/understand what a python is let alone write one, it works just as well. If you don't like the flatness of the alpha plane you can save the material and then map it on a sphere or some other object. The one limitation to doing it this way is you can't really achieve height, all the leaves are mapped at the surface. Check out the image, it's one leaf mapped on an alpha and then distributed via the ecosystem.I made the leaf a little large on purpose.
