I figure it went to Germany because someone thought it read "Austria" So the "D" part of it may stand for Dick - the "H" & "L", I will leave up to your imagination....:)

Hi Shane. I just rang DHL Express (Aust) Pty.Ltd on their customer service No. which is PH: 131406. When I gave the lady my tracking No. she looked it up and they have it on their computer. It showed that it was still in the UK at the airport waiting loading. The plane will fly it out overnight to DHL in Sydney (customs clearances should be done before it lands) and DHL hand it out to their couriers, in my case Australian Air Express who I rang also. It will come from Sydney to their agent in Nowra who will deliver it out to me. I can expect delivery about Tuesday. In your case, it may go directly to Melbourne, or via Sydney to Melbourne and then be handed over to Aust.Air Express for delivery to you. Their Phone No is 131214. In any case she said on Sunday, go to the DHL website and track you order No. via their tracking page: http://www.dhl.com.au/newroot/index.cfm?fme=1 Hope this helps in case you have not done this already. Loved you explanation of DHL too :) Jan
Ha ha - Mine lands at Tullamarine at 1800 tonight! tonight!!!

Well in that case, mine should be in Sydney tonight too. They have probably updated the tracking info, I will have to go check again, as the lady I spoke to could not get into a further checking page when I spoke to her Don't think it will be worth driving 3 hours up to Sydney just to wave at a plane. But you can do it if your that keen :) How long to drive Tullamarine for you. Pity we have a weekend now, probably be Monday or Tuesday before the courier gets it to us. At least you will have it before the school holidays start when you won't have as much time to 'play'. Keep informed. Jan
"But what has Austria to do with Germany?"
I am guessing that maybe the Central European Distribution Warehouse for DHL is in Colonge, Germany - hence, someone has mistaken Aust. for Aut. and my Poser 6 went for a trip to Germany......
To be honest it's the only explanation I can come up with as why it went to Germany then back to Heathrow. Message edited on: 04/01/2005 05:42

Actually the main DHL European distribution centre is in Cologne, most things go there. Then things are dispatched using the best possible routing. For Australia this could very well be a flight from London, Frankfurt, Paris or whatever is available (no direct flights from Cologne to Australia). Anything passing to and from Europe often goes through Cologne when DHL is used. Other carriers use similar hubs around the world. You package might also go through Singapore (or through Atlanta if it goes the long way). Packages have more patience than passengers.
" Hey fellow Aussies, will we get thumped with import duties and GST on our orders and if so, do you know who we pay?>
I spoke to DHL and they aren't sure whether customs will auto clear or not - although I spoke to customs a few weeks ago and they said that if excise(which there is none on software) and GST come to under $50 they don't bother collecting - but they also added that the carrier may collect....
So let's hope Customs clears them OK - a quick calculation back then showed we were under the $50 limit, so cross fingers...
First one to find out - let us all know.
PS. Mine was undergoing clearance at 10.13 last night.

Shane, good to know yourr "Eagle" has landed :) According to a phone call to DHL, the Sydney shipments are still "Flying" and they expect it to land in Sydney some time tonight, and IF the Customs Clearances are done in flight (seeing the GST is under $50) they will send it out on Monday - so I expect it Tuesday where I live. Probably it will sit in its pristine little box until I can figure out how to organise my P4 runtime for linking.lol - no curiosity will get the better of me I think. Jan
I'm devising ways of opening my box without damaging the wrapping - considering the freight costs.. I am trying hard not to pick up that phone and ring DHL and see if I can drive down and pick it up. I'm like a kid at Christmas - this is bad! Should I ring my fiance in Melbourne and get her drop by DHL this morning on her way up... Have customs cleared it? decisions, decisions... I'll be stark raving mad by Tuesday...

Shane, you sound like a kid confronted with too many presents at Xmas :) I just rang up Optus and I ordered Broadband which has just become available to my area. It will be here on 13th April - whoohoo. They have a great deal just announced. I have 4mths free because our phones are with them and the plan on the new mobiles entitles me to that extra month. I think I am more excited about that than P6. I know I will be 'stark raving mad' by this time lol. Ring DHL and see - what have you got to loose :) - bet you have done it already:) Good luck. Will be in contact with you by Phone after we both get it. Hope all the other Aussies get their's at the same time. We will have to start a Cooee Aussies! thread for us all. Jan
Are you aussies interested in having our own little Forum and Gallery - we can work this thing through together... I have a fair bit of space and datbases available on my domain, so it's no biggy to set it up - we could even come up with our own TOS... :) If you like the sound of the idea - let me know it will fill in my waiting time by setting it up... No I haven't rung - I will not be impatient I will not be impatient I will not be impatient

I spoke to DHL on Sunday morning and they confirmed that Sydney orders should be delivered on Monday. Since I won't be home when it arrives, they suggested a signed letter for the DHL driver with authorisation to leave the package and instructions on where to place it. I even wrapped the envelope in plastic as rain is forecast for Monday. Damn having to work for a living :-( And curses to insomnia for waking me up this early ZZZZzzzzz.....

Forum Motto: "This here's the Wattle The symbol of our land You can stick it in a bottle You can hold it in your hand Amen, hoick ptang! We might want to consider inviting our Trans-Tasman, Possum Farming Neighbours as well ;-) OMG! Maybe we should offer to swap our Cane Toads for their Possums!!!! 8-0 ... Really need to sleep now... Wait... those lights coming over the hill... It couldn't be.... The DHL van???? NOOOOOoooooooo.... Drat.

Well I have setup a site, stil needs a lot of work but would prefer to see it grow from the members not just my ideas. Already has 3 members so we can wing it from there, I had actually thought of the Python motto for the site but thought it may be a bit over the top. Ok after a lot of mucking around I have established that the Australian orders are coming through DHL not UPS - although it seems a round about route (See Below)- not sure why it went to cologne first....:)
