Subject: Weird Render in P6 - Help please!

Francemi ( ) posted Sat, 02 April 2005 at 6:31 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 4:41 AM

I started playing with P6 and I have encountered a little problem. The render on this is so weird and I can't figure out what does that. The item is Koshini maid outfit by Motsura.

This is how it shows up in the preview window:

This is how it renders:

and these are the settings of Render:

Thanks.

It looks like the texture is being tiled.. can you snapshot the mat setting for the apron? If it has other mat options, try to set one, and then reset back to this one.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

I'd thought they'd fixed that double-sided polygon issue. Guess not ....

In the Material Room, create a Simple_Color node and attach it to the Displacement channel. Set the displacement strength to a very low value. Enable displacement in your Firefly render options.

Garee, here is the screenshot (hope this is what you meant):

And Little_Dragon, how do I create a Simple_Color node?

Thanks.

I tried rendering the same item in Poser 5 and this is what I get... Firefly Renderer: apronp5ff.jpg Poser 4 Renderer: apronp5p4.jpg So now I am even more confused than before. ;o(

And Little_Dragon, how do I create a Simple_Color node?

Right-click inside the Material Room. From the resulting context menu, select:

New node --> Math --> simple_color

Ok, I did what you suggested LD and this is what I get: aprondisp.jpg Now there is only a problem with the lowest part of the skirt. I tried values between 0.01 to 0.09 for displacement strength and this is at 0.02 and it is the best I can do.

How did you get the comma's in your settings instead of period's? Mine won't do that.

Commas... Localization. It's taken from you computer's localization settings.

Some times you can fix this by increasing the shadow bias too. Depends on the model.

The commas are what I can get; I can't get periods because my setting is in French and in French we use , instead of . in the numbers. Nerd... Shadow bias???

The properties panel of each light has a shadow bias setting. it causes the shadow to be offset just a bit from the surface. It keeps some objects from casting shadows on them selves. The dress may have a second layer of polygons close to the surface. This causes the dress to shadow it's self sometime the shadow bias can fix this, sometime the displacement trick. If you are set to French in control panel you should be seeing commas and all the dial names should be french, I think. Gee, you know I never tested that. I kind of figured the testers from the other countries would. Nerd3D <-- Sneaks off to test localization.

No, the dial names are in English since Poser is in English. Only the numbers are affected by this: currency, weather, other numbers. The only problem I have with that is that Windows seems to think I want to work only in French and when I want to go to a website (Googles or Hotmail or MSN, etc.) it opens the French version of that website. The fact is I don't want to work in French! I want to work in English but I want to type with a French Canadian keyboard! ;o) I'll try that shadow bias, thanks.

I'm assuming windows here, Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional settings > Numbers. Make sure the comma is your decimal symbol. It does change the number format. Darned if I can get it to change the language though. I must be doing something wrong. Nerd3D

What is it you want to do? Change the language to French?

If it's not already french, yes and then make sure the comma is selected as the decimal symbol.

Ok that's how mine is configured:

  1. Go to Control Panel

  2. Select:
    french3.jpg

  3. Select:
    french.jpg

  4. AND select:
    french2.jpg

NOTE: When you select French Canada, the numbers change automatically I think.

Let me know if you need more help.
