Subject: Problems with Poser 6 Render Dialogue Boxes & Print-outs

After rendering James with the Firefly Renderer and trying a print-out, all I get is a pageful of unrendered thumbnails of James. The same thing happens with the Poser 4 Renderer. Also after opening the General Preferences Dialogue Box or the Render Settings Dialogue Box or the Make Movies Dialogue Box, Poser 6 just locks up. So I have to exit and reload. I have tried turning off the Antivirus Software and Firewall, have upgraded the Graphics driver to the latest version and tried reducing the Hardware Accelerator, but Poser 6 continues to lock up as before. Any suggestions please as to what is going wrong? I have Windows XP Home SP1,a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz processor, 512K RAM and a GeForce4 MX420 video card.

I have had similar problems when I first installed P6. Mine "seems" to be running ok now. A couple of suggestions for you: Upgrade to XP service pack 2 [CL recommends this], have you installed a poser 4 or 5 runtime manually? If you have, like I did originally this could cause an issue. Head across to CL's web site and go to the Poser6 knowledge base. There are instructions there to show you how to install the other runtimes the correct way. After I did this my problems with it went away. Not saying it'll work for you but hey it's worth a go eh!! thefixer poser coordinator

Many thanks for your suggestions. I have no P4 or P5 runtime installed manually. When I tried to upgrade Windows to SP2, the attempt failed and I had to use System Restore to get the display screen back to normal. As suggested by CL P6 FAQs, I have reduced the Hardware Acceleration by 2 notches and upgraded my video card but this has made no difference. I still have the same lock-up and printing problems as before. I am contacting CL support to see if they can possibly assist
