Greetings,

I'm using poser4 and i'm building my archery pack. i actually did all the modling about a year and a half ago i'm just getting it into poser now.

Now i had this bow working at one point in time.. but i lost it in a hard drive crash ..

So i remeshed the bow. took it into poser and got it scaled and set to go.

I then made my morph target in rhino using object bend and pont rotation.

exported it out brought it into poser and then exported back out making sure only "As morph target" was checked.

when i try to apply the morph my bow suddenly explodes ... attached is my results.

any help would be SOOOO appreciated.

this is just a guess here, but could your verticies got renamed or renumbered or something. The reason I say this it because it looks like the morph is trying to be applied to the handle instead of the string.

Hrm... i wonder... maybe it happened when i exported out .. the original bow had to be rotated and such.. i then exported that mesh out of poser and brought it back in to rhino to make my morph...

there is a thread on what to do if that is the case around here somewhere. I'm not really a modeler (much) so I don't know the solution off the top of my head. I'm sure someone else will come along with the solution shortly. BTW I'm not going to post in the other thread so we don't go back and forth posting twice.

lol yeah i'm a forum idiot .. i didn't realize i could just delete the image ...

Probably easier to just make the morph in poser with a magnet. Use grouping tool to isolate the string and then change the zone falloff to something sharper and you're all set. -WTB

You can use UV Mapper to re-order the verts on your morphed object...if that's indeed the problem. 1) Load your morphed object into UVMapper 2) Select Tools-->Vertices-->reorder 3) Dialog pops up asking for the original file --> select the original unmorphed .obj 4) Oila! Save the morphed object file and use in poser. If this doesn't work then you've either a) moved (rotated, etc) the file in some fashion, or b) added geometry that wasn't in the orginal file...but then you wouldn't have been able to use it in poser originally I guess. I think you have to be very careful with your export settings in Rhino...it's been awhile, but I remember fooling around with the export options ALOT! Hope this helps.

ok yeah i rotated and repositioned the original... and rhino does some funky stuff where it changes the angles and such... i'll keep messing with it .. thanks. I think trying to morph the bow in poser using magnets won't quite work as it won't pull the bow arms back and down as would naturally happen with a bow.

ok i think i found the culprit .. The original bow i made still had seperate groups in it .. My morph crossed over those diffrent groups. when i went in and stripped all the groups out making it one solid piece and re did the morph in rhino it seems to work now. Oddly enough Logan'sFury is reporting some problems with the bow moving in an arc when he tries the morph on his machine. kinda wierd. On my machine the bow sits perfectly still and does what it's supposed to still tinkerin with it.

You might want to talk to diviner. He created a really nice yew longbow that's here in FreeStuff. He's a member here. Also has his own web site (http://www.beeinfo.biz). hope that helps
