Thought I would have a look at the other libraries in P6 rather than just J&J - nice to see the old cat has remained unchanged throughout all his incarnations - was he originally a Poser 3 figure or before that, I know I've had him since P3.

Don't you all agree he is a fine piece of workmanship? Rendered with IBL and AO :)

My neighbor's cat looks just like that. He talks, too. The cat, that is......not my neighbor.

XENOPHONZ I would hate to be your neighbour if their cat looked like that, complete with square legs and a seam on his chest..... Really it should be a crime to have content like this in a program that is shaping up to be so great!

Does this cat have facial/body morphs? Can it be morphed into a kitten? I have an issue with kittens. since we're on the subject of cats anyway. not that it's poser related in any way, but... my house is a cat magnet. and now there's 3 sets of kittens in various points around the outside of my house that I don't know what to do with. tastiger ( ) posted Thu, 21 April 2005 at 8:07 PM

This cat is just the basic cat - as I said before he has been around since at least Poser 3. I think actually someone a long time ago made some morphs for him that changed him into about 9 different animals, but I can't remember who or when... Perhaps some of the longer serving members can remember think the package was called 9 lives and it was free.

I see. I've yet to have a use for the animals in poser. I'm coming up on a point where I'm gonna need a horse, but its still in the distance. E.D.

Capces did it...it's not on her site any more. I have it...and I used the fox version in one of my images.

XENOPHONZ I would hate to be your neighbour if their cat looked like that, complete with square legs and a seam on his chest..... Yeah. I had a friendly conversation with my neighbor's talking cat just the other day. He was thinking about suing Curious Labs for using his image without permission.

I like the old Poser cat. He's been a good mascot for my serious work, as in this pic... Also, cloudlandcastle.com has some really nice morphs to turn the cat into various critters.

Just went off and downloaded "9 Lives" again - this is like a blast from the past.... Shame Poser 3 won't run on modern systems - I get an "out of Memory" error on AMD 3200+, 1 gig ram, and Radeon 9800

Try running the Metacreations 3D Painter on a modern system, lol. Would be great if it works, like a BodyPaint or DeepUV for Poser, but without the price tag, but I think you need Windows 3.1 to run it. Or maybe Dos. Or maybe one of those machine language machines that you programmed by using punch cards.

Darn still had it sitting in my Metacreations directory - but alas "Not enough free memory to run Painter3D" lol

"Really it should be a crime to have content like this in a program that is shaping up to be so great!" Some people are complaining that they didn't get all the old content with Poser 6 and some people are complaining that so much of the old stuff is included. :sigh: Newcomers who just get the program for the first time need something to play with. Would any of us like to start this program with only the platonic solids as primitives? After someone has learned to pose and light and render, THEN they can go get more stuff. Carolly

"Some people are complaining that they didn't get all the old content with Poser 6 and some people are complaining that so much of the old stuff is included." It may be complaining but really let's face it how many years has this cat been around now, thats not to mention the rest of the "animals' included with Poser 6 - would have been nice to see something different. And honestly that cat may have been state of the art in Poser 3 but now - look at him, seams and all - Beware - "The Mutant Cat!" :)

Would you like to borrow my copy of "101 Things to Do With a Dead Cat"? The yarn winder is perhaps the most useful repurposing, but if you don't knit, you'll want to thumb through the book for other ideas. Carolly the Oh-so-Helpful

lmckenzie ( ) posted Fri, 22 April 2005 at 6:57 AM

Straight from my mama, who said this is what they used to do on the farm. You take a boot--you know what it is a boot? You are taking the cat, the male cat it is, and you are putting the front of the cat into the boot. Then snip, snip. Now the cat of course ist sehr verklempt. That is why you have the boot. Now, no more little cats and the big cats, they don't fight so much either.

ExistentialDisorder, Would you like to borrow my cat hating dalmation dog for a week? He hates kitties and they stay out of my yard. He also hates birds so they don't fly over the backyard any more either.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 22 April 2005 at 10:28 AM

I've got a set of replacement eyeballs in Free Stuff, if anyone wants them. Compatible with my current Furrette eye textures, and also most Unimesh eye textures.

With those, and a decent body texture, the Poser cat looks halfway acceptable.

My Bushy Tail 2.0 figure makes a good enhancement, also.

I usually use Poser cat as a fox, or a doggie, or a rat :D When my boyfriend see any new animal model on my screen, he always asks "Is this made of cat too?" ROTFL

Those 9-Lives morphs are oooold, prior to me figuring out how to exclude the inner mouth from a morph. They might make that poor cat more frightening than it already is. ;)

lmckenzie You have pictured what I was thinking last night - somehow the Poser Cat looks - well Stuffed, he reminds me of something taken from an egyptian tomb and unwrapped. Actually withy a gold material on him he would look good in any egyttian scene. Perhaps we could have a new thread 101 uses for the Poser Cat!

Eeeewh! Looks like a stitch in time didn't save nine (lives) this time. Someone was wanting a post-mortem texture, probably for Mike ot Vicky but maybe they'll take a fetid feline instead. Now I'm going to have to go to the Hello Kitty website and do penance.

True, The book completes the picture but the kitty stiff itself grabbed me. Nothing kills the old 'Fluffy is just sleeping,' schtick like a chest full of 00 silk. Of course, this is a case where good old fashioned catgut would be the suture of choice. Time to lose the Aishwarya Rai wallpager, go back to Hello Kitty...love Hello Kitty...worship Vicky and Hello Kitty.
