Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Nope, not in P4. You can go that route - kinda - in P5. Example - in "Pose", I have all my V3 poses, V3 MAT, V3 character poses in a subdirectory. So long as you stick within the file type (cr2, hr2, pz2, lt2, cm2, fc2 etc) you'll be just dandy.

Within each main Poser folder, ie, Pose, I create several sub folders. I always do this in Windows, btw, because it's usually quicker. The folders I have are something like this, if you were to look in Pose: Animals Hair Clothes People Scenery Vehicles With me so far? So, take a look inside "People" and you'll see something like the following: Aiko3 David M2 M3 Steph SP3 V2 V3 And any others which I may have. In V3, for example, I have the following: V3 Characters V3 Clothes V3 Poses Note, these folders were not created automatically, these were all made by me, according to how I wanted to arrange things in my Runtime folder. if you have any problems with it, don't hesitate to speak up. I will help as much as possible - except not for now, it's kinda late here and I need some sleep soon. IM me if necessary, or throw it out to the other people here.

These are in the Libraries system, I think. RuntimeLibrariesPose is the root of the Pose section of the libraries menu in Poser. The one thing you should be careful of is the location of the files used to INJ and REM morphs for DAZ's current figures. The INJ Pose file contains a reference to a file with the data. You shouldn't move that second file. DAZ do a decent job of keeping those files safely out of the standard libraries: they add extra folders to RuntimeLibraries. Don't touch RuntimeLibraries!DAZ And the "Figures" library is, for some reason, in a folder called "character" -- the other folder names are obvious matches to the Library menu in Poser.
Also be aware that anything PZ3 files you created before organizing stuff may suddenly have problems because they are trying to look at where things used to be. This may or may not be a problem depending on you personal usage [ie, if you create things then once you are finished you do bother keeping the files any more then it wouldn't matter at all] Now you can still use old files and after loading them once I believe the problem is solved [at least as long as you save the PZ3 after opening it] because it will now have the new location for any textures, etc.
Best to give details -- folder names and such. !DAZ isn't the only folder which can contain INJ-data. If in doubt, leave it alone. Concentrate on the Libraries sub-folders. Most content uses a shallow and wide structure, and I routinely rearrange the Pose folder. For instance, a lot of products use three subfolders for the MAT files, one each for P4, Pro-Pack, and P5. I use P5. I can delete the folders for the other Poser versions, or move them to be subfolders of the P5 folder. Then I can use a system such as SamTherapy describes. One thing is that the best structure for you depends a little on how you think about things, and how you work with Poser. In the Pose library, you have poses for a lot of different purposes. Do you arrange first by the target figure, or by the purpose? All the V3 pose files, or all the MAT poses?

i now have so much stuff for both posers and i wonder if there is a way for me to organize my stuff? u know like V3 stuff go into V3 main folder then have all those subfolders under one big folder and M3 goes into M3 folders etc... is it possible? instead of searching for specific model everywhere? Most of time i have no idea what one is for unless i open it up and find out its not what i wanted for a specific model like aiko3 so if its possible please let me know it will be so much easier on me :)
