I know, more newbie questions.... Ecosystems - I keep hearing about this feature but where is it? Does the Vue 5 Pro Trial include this feature? I selected a new plant thinking it would be somewhere in the properties? Imported meshes seem to be giving Vue a real hard time - it's starting to buckle. I'm already in wireframe mode, have a Flight Simulator class nVidia video card. and buckets of RAM, is there something else I need to do?

Ecosystems are available for Vue Infiite - not Vue 5 or Vue 5 Pro. As far as I kow, there is no Vue Infinite demo out yet.

#1 there is a known memory issue in 5 Esprit and Pro. Hopefully it will be solved soon, then all is a little easier. "Imported meshes seem to be giving Vue a real hard time - it's starting to buckle." Depends on the mesh i would say. Any more details on what you have imported?

The mesh in question appears in several of my recent efforts, the attached link being the most illustrative. I created the starship in Truespace, the resulting .obj file is about 9.5 MB in size. Obviously, this kind of image with imported Poser figures would be 90% imported meshes - I've already had to turn off OpenGl just to get acceptable responsiveness.

It is not neccesarily the space on disk that counts - the number of polygons i wanted to know. After being imported into Vue. Some tricks to make Vue a little faster in display. Mostly I put things onto different layers. And switch off the layers that i don't need at the moment. AND/OR switch objects i have finished working on to wireframe box mode. Makes things a lot quicker - i am not on the fastest machine ever as well. Third trick is to switch all views to wireframe except the camera view. Gives me enough control combined with a better preview.

Yes, silly of me - 246,000 polygons Like the layers idea, I shall try that. Next, Poser figure importing and live updating.... :-)
