Okay.Hope I do this right. This is my entry for the monthly challenge.I was out looking for something, anything, that might fit, and frustrated with finding nothing returned to my car.So here is my act of desperation that ended up looking pretty neat to me once I made it B&W,etc.I don't love the idea that I am in the pic but well sometimes we photographers get desperate and surprising results happen!

Marlene!!!!!!! I'm so happy i bounced in here real quick (shouldn't be 'cause i'm behind in the galleries so bad) 'cause i get to see your GORGEOUS face!!!! I certainly can relate to feeling desperate sometimes when you have a challenge before you but get stuck. i'm having a REALLY hard time with this challenge. oh, i do them all the time, but since i'm challenging myself, i wanted to do something extra special. anyway...yours is DEFINItelY extra special!!! it reminds me of that movie "Thelma & Louise!" In this image, i imagine you putting the pedal to the metal and getting ready to fly over the cliff!!! :) I'm so happy to see you here! huge hugz pssst i might post a reflection pic i took of myself today in here later. left a message for you in my gallery. will IM you later! luv ya...AND your OUTSTANDING image! :)

I like this one, too. Glad to meet you, Margana. We do have fun here with the challenges and some serious stuff/ This point of view is very good. Reminds me of drive time to work and the folks on the road... then again, very introspective. Thanks for the image. Really nice entry.

I really like that! Rich perfect tones..and like that contrast of blur and crispiness on your face.. Nice to meet people here too! ;-)

Superb shot!! I love this!! Totally!! I had that idea in mind for a while (not a car mirror but a mirror) but Laurent is always too busy to pose for me!! I will get him anyway! Back to ur image, the sepia is perfect for this and I can see why it reminds Sheila of Thelma and Louise!! The atmosphere and ur expression could be taken from the movie indeed!! A truly beautiful shot!!!

Margana ( ) posted Fri, 20 May 2005 at 7:03 PM

Thank you everyone.I really appreciate all your positive comments.I was a little afraid, to be honest, to post it.But I liked the crop so much I couldn't help myself! You are all soooooo wonderful. I can see Sheila's point about Thelma and Louise.I loved that movie and it was so empowering.Even if they drive off the cliff at the end! Most interesting of all, to me, is the different 'takes' people had on my expression, which I thought was fairly neutral.I was even told I had a slightly 'Evil Eye'!I love that. Art should affect different people differently. That tells me I succeeded in some way. Thanks again you guys. Looking forward to seeing all your entries!!!!!-Marlene

Oh Marlene!! "Les coeurs saignent et s'accrochent en haut de tes bas, oh Marlene dans tes veines, coule l'amour des soldats, eux quand ils meurent, ou s'endorment, c'est dans le creux de tes bras, qu'ils s'abandonnent et qu'ils brulent comme un clope entre tes doigts....". Couldn't resist this one! Sorry! Marlene, what a beautiful name! This song is about Marlene dietrich and was written by Noir Desir! A superb song....

Sure!! My pleasure Marlene! "Oh Marlene, hearts are bleeding and hanging at the top of ur tights, Oh Marlene, soldiers' love runs in ur veins and when they die, or fall asleep, it's in ur arms that they let go and burn like a cigarette between ur fingers....". Kinda hard to translate a poem really but I think u got the picture! One of my fav song by Noir Dez actually! A real jewel! :) Makes me cry...! :(

It's a band! And it's Noir Desir as in Black Desire yep! THE French band! The singer is in jail right now....very sad story...surely u've heard about it on the news about 2 years ago! Marie Trintignant, a very famous French actress was his girlfriend, they fought, and she died! It was all over the news...well, anyway, the song is called "Marlene".

Margana ( ) posted Sat, 21 May 2005 at 7:17 PM

Sorry,Pascale, haven't heard this story, but I'm sure I can find it on the internet.I am so going to look for this song.I can't believe there's a song out there with my name.LOL. American news is so America-centered I'm not surprised at all that it wasn't news here. That's why I try to catch international radio whenever I can. It's more even and doesn't have that American bias filter happening. But I will definately look into it! Thanks for responding! You're great!Glad we've met.Have a great evening.Where are you, anyway?I'm thinking Canada...Quebec? Of course just a guess.Ooh I'll go to your artist page! :)

Then on the left hand side, u'll see a vertical lign of small thumbnails. click on the fourth one from the top. it says "1993 Tostaky". And here u go. #7 is Marlene. ;)

If your song is a wav-file its gonna be quite big...and even though your inbox allows 250mb you cant probably send files larger than 10mb at a time. The way i see it, you have 2 choices: 1. Convert the song into an MP3 first. There are lots of free software out there to convert different types of music-files. Just take a look at download.com and search for MP3-convertors. or... 2. you can just use this link to send large files over the net. You can send file as big as 1GB for free.....hope it helped a little.
