Lilybelles, Those are wonderful carousels... the detail in the "menagerie" one is fantastic, and they do look like the real named critters. :) Carolly

I love the carousels also Pam. Are these high res enough that they would stand up to printing for artwork? Thanks!

LadyElf, A lot of the detail is actually molded into the model. The animal figures are exquisite. Most of the carousel framing pieces are great. The lighting at the floorboards is painted on, and doesn't hold up as well as do the modeled lights everywhere else (they also have built-in ambience which aids the illusion). I needed a figure to show you the scale, so dropped in PhilC's old Arabian Body Guard (figured that he'd heard tales of magical flying beasts, but is a bit disappointed to discover that they only fly in circles). jpg'd to fit forum size. :sigh: It comes with light sets including spots for riders as well as standers. This is just a quickie render in ProPack on my old beastie, on a black ground so it would look like night. If you need me to run the camera in closer, I will, but you're the only one who knows what your printing size will be. HTH, Carolly

Thanks Carolly :) For what I have in mind for these the prints would probably be on 8x`10 and matted to 11x14 I would imagine :) I just wanted to make sure that it is good enough to stand up to say the same as a head texture would to a portrait :) Deb

THANKS, CAROLLY! WOW! What a BEAUTIFUL render! I LOVE how you did your lighting. The colors look magnifique, and the detial shows up SO WELL. Although we do have some detail in the mesh as Carolly says, it is mostly in the maps on these here critters. For example, when Tom told me that the Dentzel Carts were completely flat on the sides, I almost didn't believe him. Also the jewels on the Looff Camel. Here are some samples to show you what I mean. Makes it alot easier to map (LOL ; ) but it sure looks much more 3 dimensional than it really is.

Thanks everyone.
Pam

...and the sea montser's neck is also smooth in mesh. Good paint job huh? ;)

Sorry about the dup image.

Thanks Xenophonz. And just so all you carousel fans know, the lights are painted on just as Carolly said for the sake of the poly count. It would have gone to a bazillion had we not. Now the Ferris Wheel lights are the real deal, however, we had to increase the size of each bulb in order to reduce the number of bulbs to where still looked good. Bulbs are what? Round!

The first time I saw Tom's interior design of our 80 foot Yacht I wondered, "What are you thinking?!" All the walls are curved and rounded off rounded off with no hard edges anywhere. If its a hard edge, it gets beveled. He makes a lot more work for himself, but when he has an idea of what he wants, by God thats the way hes going to make it. (Proves that his Imagination Works! LOL! ; ) But this is why some of our models come out so nicely. He doesnt like to sacrifice what he wants for the sake of making it easier. Tycho would be a good example. OMG! EVERYTHING... Round! (But God love him for it.) Every once in awhile he has to make a compromise for the sake of the end user relative to load time. But man-o-man does is take a lot of work getting everything smooth vs. polygonal looking. And I'm always the first one to point it out a poly sighting to him. I'm sure some days hed love to just shoot me But ITS MY JOB! (Holding the self-appointed Art Critic position LOL! ;) pg
