First rose I ever really attempted to shoot for an artwork, ~ need to practice shot the flowers in the garden. sure i shot lots but you know - roses and Mom at the table posing with her flowers on Mothers day, b-day ,funeral, ECT...) So I put this up. And then deleted it. after about 10 minutes. changed my mind. Have it on my desk top cause it is cheerful. I personally like it peeking thru the garden gate... anyways, so I thought no, just another plain old rose...... well, I can share my attempt at closeup work here at least. (looking at the flower post lol I think I made the right call...lol!) SO is it boring? oh I try with all my heart to do creative work... and i strive to create (hope )to do images that might somehow bring people joy,.feeling, or laughter. I imagine someone looking at this and going -yawn - just been learning my new cam and playing with attempts of closeup/ Marcos last few days practicing... curious what you think, just plain and boring rose?.... thanks Kimmer

gawd, i hope not boring... i have a garden full of them :P don't be intimidated by those with no patience... we all gotta start somewhere composition will come once you've handled the feel of the cam & settings so maybe it's a little too centered & i might be tempted to clone out that one triangle of pink on the righthand edge... at least it's in focus, the dew is a nice touch & the rose color & swirls are exquisite... personally i shall never tire of roses :]

...a rose -is a rose -is a rose. ( cryptic reply )

The rose is not boring and you have captured it well with glorious colours and superb detail. I wonder if it is the same pov/composition/presentation you would have used if you had been painting it ?

We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---

Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

I had to try something with this...

Personally, would like to see more of a angle and less background...imo;)

so true Nik....cant stress anough...about the practise and diff angles...also, the light, conditions etc etc all take on different camera settings, ISO, shutter, aperture, all that stuff...once you mastered all that, your away :) Just shoot what u enjoy and master it :)

My belief is: Every day is a learning day:)

That's right! My only suggestion is practice practice practice...and to be carefull with colorfull flowers and saturation...on your camera setting or with postwork , as high saturation dramatically lower the tone range ands tend to render a flat impression of the subject...but this is just my own opinion and I am really not a prefessionnal..just a novice ;-) Anyway this is a good capture with a very good exposure and focus!

... it is not boring at all ! My first post in RR was a red rose. I have posted roses now and then. I am not concerned about other's opinions about 'flower photography'. I have no suggestions about POV, DOF and other disturbing ( !!!! ) details. The only way to love photography is doing it again and again and never give up. Everyone learns everyday with other's photography. Do not give up and do what you like always !!!
