Subject: UV Map for Jessi?

stephaniebt ( ) posted Thu, 02 June 2005 at 8:04 AM ยท edited Mon, 13 January 2025 at 8:38 AM

I've found a head map for Jessi in Freestuff, but am really in need of a map for the body as well. I have UVMapper and tried to load Jessi to create my own map, but the file type (obz) is not recognized by UVMapper. Does anyone know how to make a map for P6 characters?

Did you try exporting Jessi's body as an .obj, and loading that into UVmapper? That should work.

Tools : ย 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender v2.74

System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB GPU.

OK, I hadn't thought of that. Thank you, I'll try that. :)

Well, For some weird reason(To save space that is!) Poser 6 figures are saved as OBZ instead of OBJ. Thats OBJ with a Zip :) That is to save space the OBJ files, which are just plain text are zipped. Unzip 'em using WinRAR or use 7-Zip(Dload from sourceforge.net, free, open-source) and you will get an OBJ. Load it into UV-Mapper and ye are done.

Hey, thanks so much. That sounds a little easier :)

Yeah, I'd asked SnowSultan but he said he didn't have P6 so he didn't make the seam guides. I did find a head template in Free Stuff :)

Now who is going to do a remapped version to take Vicky textures?

Sombody aught to mention that Jessi has a mapping problem, many of her maps are out of bounds, that is UV mapped outside the normal 0 to 1.000 range. In actual practice it doesn't matter that much (except it prevented me from importing her head in Max), just be aware that is why you get the message if you bring her into UV Mapper.

Thanks Jim. Looks like I'm in for a real challenge. ;)

Poser 6 has a Python script to uncompress the files - you don't need to unzip them with any other program. Within Poser 6 click on Window - Python Scripts to open the Python palette. Click on the Utility Funcs button and then on Uncompress Files. A window pops up with a list of the files that will be uncompressed and you can check Uncompress Geometry files and Delete original files under compression.

Thanks Maus! I am going to try this later today. This sounds like the easiest option.
