after reading a number of archive posts I thought I'd attempt a wet skin render. this is "stage 1", and I'd appreciate any help to improve it.

I tried to apply a displacement of 0.15 as suggested in one of these posts, and was happy with the result. However, there were weird vertical lines on the face and torso (whether that's due to the MAT used, I don't know). I had to settle for 0.05. The specularity is default with a pale grey colour.

I also used Koz's All Back hair - I like the effect.

My aspiration: to make a decent Poser Render I'm an Oldie, a goldie, but not a miracle worker :-)

try plugging some noise to your displacement (assuming you're using P5/6). .15 sounds a bit high though ... I think I've used .0015

I've tried this, but can't seem to get the noise to apply to the entire texture... looks like every body part is completely separate... good for some things, but a real pain for others, unless I'm missing something. Not all that up to speed on the materials room yet.

Suggestion:

Try applying a granite node to the specular value (not the colour..). (a noise node applied there would also work, but granite is noise with varying grey-scale, so not so grainy).

You could also apply the same node to the displacement.

It all helps get rid of the "I'm covered in oil" look..

Cheers,
Diolma
Edited to add: If you do try the "granite node" route, you may want to play around with the granite's coluors and dials to improve the effect. As long as you keep the colours (Base & Spot) pure grey values (all R,G,B values equal) you can easily limit the range of the effects.

thanks for that - unfortunately I don't have this poser file anymore since I've reformatted my pc - still, I'll continue to play, especially since I've now got P6!
