Subject: Poser 6 V3 problems

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone could please advise:

With poser 6 I had one V3 based character saved as a PZ3. I loaded that file then started adding another V3 based character. With Poser 4 I used to simply load the DAZ body and head morphs then work on the figure. With Poser 6 however the morphs don't work, even though it is a standard DAZ install of V3 plus morphs.

The only way I can get the DAZ morphs to work is to start over with a "new" file, load V3 then load the morphs. Even then the morph params are relunctant to show and I have to clear the parameters, focus on another item like lights, then come back to "Figure 1" then go to windows/show params. What a tedious process!

In conclusion, Poser 6 seems very flakey with V3. Is this just me or do others have the same problem?

This is untested info but, I unchecked "use binary morphs" on 4th tab in Preferences (which creates a .pmd file for morphs to speed up filesaves and other things) so it behaves like a traditional PZ3. I "think" there is a transition period between having and not having a new .pmd (if used) where morphs are dead on old characters before being saved as new in P6 (speculation pure) Look in your paint prog or figure library with "ALL files" checked and see how many .pmd's have been created... Accidently deleting one of them will cause much trouble. Switching this option off will increase your save times but simplify your files. I wondered how when I hit save, P6 could do it in 10 seconds...pmd's are why.

I'm surprised you were able to inject morphs to multiple V2s in poser 4 - my understanding and experience was that the figure to be injected had to be the very first in a blank scene, and cross-talk should have killed the morphability of multiple figures.

First question: Are you working with multiple Runtimes? If so, them make sure you have a copy of the morphs loaded in the main runtime as well as the one you are working in. This was the bit of advice that CL gave me.

Thanks all. I was under the impression that "use binary morphs" should be checked, not unchecked, for Poser 4 emulation, but maybe I'm wrong. On the crosstalk, there is a marvellous utility called Mellinium Null (I think) which provides a "null" figure between loading multiple V3 characters. This enables morphing on seperate V3 characters within one scene without crosstalk and it works well. I think the solution is to apply as was suggested two copies of V3 morphs in the normal runtime and download runtime. This is probably why I wasn't getting any morphs working Thanks again. I was under the impression that "use binary morphs" should be checked, not unchecked, for Poser 4 emulation Check it to save morphs in a separate PMD file. Uncheck it to use the "old" method of saving morphs in the CR2.
