Subject: Why does the PP take so long to display Library Thumbnails??

I recently upgraded to the Pro-Pack and have noticed that when opening a new library in the Library Pane (now it should be PAIN) I hear my hard drive go a little nuts and it takes a few moments for thumbnails to appear in the column? I don't have compression turned on, but I did notice that the PP had added some files called PNG, which if I'm not mistaken are good ol' graphics files. Could this be the slow down? Is there anyway to fix this ... other than a patch of course? TIA! -Tim

Hi The Pro Pack doesn't use rsr files so it converts all the rsrs in the libraries to png files. It's only slow the first time you open a library. After the png files have been built it is just a fast as it was before. Hope this helps Ed

It also builds an object for every item in the folder where the cr2 files are and changes the cr2 file to point to the new object. Ron

I also notice this yesterday after installing PPP .I have lot of png format icon now but PPP also not retain the names of some thumbnails. Now i have some with name and some with no name before all my icons in libraries have names What i gain for this aspect of Poser?Maybe i can load and personnize icons. How can i put name again without recreate those which lost the name during the conversion process? Thanks

try download the P3d Explorer in this free stuff page, it can load the preview for all cr2, pz2....very fast.

Me too, Martial - had one library file, out of a few dozen that had lost its name. Its thumbnail showed the shrugging guy, but I don't remember if that one had a thumbnail or not before I installed the ProPack. Opened OK, though. I'm on a Mac.

Losing some thumb nails I believe has to do with the name. Whether it has spaces or special characters. Ron
