I dont have photoshop but I think I read in one of the forums that you have to open both pics. Then load the selection from picture and pick the distance render. Like I said I dont have photoshop and I've never used distance render so I might be telling you wrong...but if I am I'm sure someone will correct me... as another option you could use the lasso tool and draw around the stuff you want to blur if it doesnt have to be exact.
open the perspective render in photoshop in the channels palette, switch to channel 4 (or create a new channel if there is no channel 4 -- it will depend on what your platform is and how you saved the image whether or not there is one). open the distance render in photoshop. select all. copy. switch back to channel 4 of the perspective render. paste. switch back to channel 0 of the perspective render (the RGB channel). use the Select->Load Selection menu item. load the selection from channel 4. run a blur filter. -calyxa

I Know i shoudn't post this here but I thought Bryce users would know what i am trying to do and could give me a quick response. I have also posted this in the photoshop forum. I have loaded an image that was rendered in bryce into photoshop. Im am trying to create a depth of field look. Also in bryce i did a distance render. How do i place the distant render image into the alpha channel of the perspective image (first bryce render). Next it says load the alpha chennel as a selection. Is there anybody out there that can help me. A step by step walkthrough would be awesome. Many thanks in advance.
