There was a thread a little while back about firmware upgrade for Nikon D70 DSLR. I have not done the upgrade. If you did, is there a differnce noticed? One item mentioned at the Nikon site was better in-camera recognition of Raw files left on memory. Please let me know if the upgrade of firmware is a must have or ok add in. Thanks, TomDart.

I thought you already did the upgrade. Frm the last thread it seemed you gave me the advice LOL

I read the stuff from Nikon and started to download but for some reason did not do it then. Then, I forgot about the upgrade and did not download it to my camera. You asked if the upgrade was needed..new camera, etc. I said it would do just like it does now..so does mine and that seems fine so I have not been in any hurry since then to upgrade the firmware. So, that is why this thread..does the upgrade really make a difference?

I uploaded the new firmware on to my D70 about the day after it came out. I suppose you could say that the AF was slightly faster, as 3Dguy says it is better at predicting how many exposures you would have left, different look of course. I'd say it was worth it, since it's free and not too much hassle to do, but unless you are a 'statistic testing nutcase' then don't worry too much, your not missing anything radical :) either way, have fun!
