Subject: Does anyone know how to get hold of the owner of this site?

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 20 July 2005 at 10:14 PM ยท edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 5:07 AM

Attached Link: http://www.comm.unt.edu/~ktaylor/downloads.htm

I've downloaded some gorgeous hair from there, but some are missing files. I tried sending an email to the hotmail address listed on the site, but the email was returned to me; the reason being that the mail box is not available. I would like to contact the Mylochka to ask about acquiring the missing files.

If it was me, I'd probably make a small donation to the site via the PayPal button at the bottom, and include any message or request in the comments section.

Acadia, would you please let me know if you have any success in getting a response and/or the missing files...I downloaded those hairs also, but have not had a chance to use them so I didn't realize there were missing files, until this post...thanks! Karen :D

Those are some very cool hair styles! Let us know if you can get hold of those missing files.

Acdia, what hair styles are you missing the files for, many of them or just a few? and if not too many, which files are you missing? I'm playing around with them right now and looking over all the files...thanks...Karen :D

There's a link on the site (#2) for the .png files for all hairs prior to Golddigger because the .rsr files weren't working right. Are these the missing files? If not, which files are missing?

blonderella ( ) posted Thu, 21 July 2005 at 2:07 PM

pigfish9...well, I know of one texture file so far that's missing...it's moundofcurlz_txt_plat.jpg...I haven't checked all the others yet...I'm working on it in between rt obligations...Karen :D

I've downloaded and installed all of the female hair, plus the Jeanie hair which logansfury managed to get permission from ktaylor to redistribute. These are my findings for missing files. Angela hair is missing: moundofcurlz_txt_plat.jpg BouFlipwBangs hair is missing: bangs_tr2.jpg Jeanie hair is missing: shorcurl_txtred.jpg

Is it possible that she is reusing some textures? That transmap for the bangs might be found on another style with bangs, for example.

Acadia ( ) posted Thu, 21 July 2005 at 11:14 PM

All her textures are in one single folder, so if that was the case, then Poser should be finding the file. But the file is just not there to be found.

I've been sooo busy today Acadia but I've gone through about half of them and the first two you mentioned I also found missing...the Jeanie hair I dont have and didn't know I could get it from somewhere else...it sure looks like a gorgeous hair...if you manage to get the missing files, can you advise please? I sure would appreciate it...thanks...Karen :D

I wrote to the email that bonni posted. Plus I spoke with logansfury. He said he would write to her and ask. He managed to contact her before. I haven't had a reply to my email. But it looks like a university email, and classes are out for the summer, so maybe that is why.

Try using moundofcurlz_txt.jpg for moundofcurlz_txt_plat.jpg. bangs_tr_pt.jpg for bangs_tr2.jpg and shorcurl_txtrd2.jpg or shorthair_redtx.jpg for shorcurl_txtred.jpg Those are the file names for these hair objects that I have. I only downloaded them from here site in the past year so I can't imagine I'd have different zips than the ones online now.

Thank you. I'll try those alternatives. If they work, how do I point Poser to look for those insted of the wrong ones like it is doing now?

Simply edit the hr2 file with any text editor and replace the occurances of those file names with the replacement names. I don't have the Jeannie hair but I've already edited the other two in my own runtime and there are two occurances of the bad filenames in each of them. Speaking of the Jeannie hair. Where's that one hosted now?

The Jeanie Hair isn't hosted. But logansfury received permission to redistribute it. I can't recall if he posted the permission publically so that we all can distribute it, or if he is the only one that can. You can PM him and ask him to email you a copy of it, and if it's possible for him to post the permission publically and clarify if anyone can redistribute it or if it's only him.

Well, I tried editing those files and replacing them with the suggestions given. However, I'm still asked in Poser to locate those files I listed. Yes, I saved the changes in the NotePad file :)

Got it! I didn't know there were numerous references to it and I had only changed one. For those who are editing the Jeanie Hair file, the reference has to be shorcurl_txtrd2.jpg otherwise the middle of the hair looks two toned and not the same colour as the ponytail and bangs. Once I finish editing these I'm rezipping them and burning the fixed version to CD for safe keeping. It's not easy looking through all that stuff in NotePad when you're dyslexic, LOL

thanks for the info Acadia...I'm not sure if you're familiar with Notepad functions, but under the Edit menu, there is a feature called Find...click on Find and it opens a little window where you can type in what you're looking for...for example, just type in shorcurl_txtrd2.jpg and click Find Next...it will take you to the next occurance of that text...then edit it the way you want, and click Find Next again, edit and repeat until it tells you "cannot find ____", then you know it has found all of them...makes life a LOT easier! ;D Karen

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Fri, 22 July 2005 at 11:37 PM

Yeah I like Object Edit which has a "Find & Replace Next" and "Find & Replace All" option as well. Makes CR2 and HR2 editing a snap.

blonderella ( ) posted Fri, 22 July 2005 at 11:42 PM

Mizrael...yes, the are certainly priceless little features!

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Fri, 22 July 2005 at 11:53 PM

Hehehe... Yeah, until you realise you've clicked on "Find & Replace All" and somehow chosen a find name that get's repeated in the replace and causes an infinate loop. Then it's not so priceless. LOL!

Acadia ( ) posted Sat, 23 July 2005 at 12:19 AM

Thanks, I didn't know about the find feature in NotePad. I looked line by line and was cross eyed and had a headache afterward, LOL I zipped up the entire series of female hair into one runtime folder for future use. So next time I have to install it, it's all there and all properly referenced. Thanks for the help :)
