Subject: I need long hair file feedback or suggestions

sturkwurk ( ) posted Sun, 24 July 2005 at 12:05 PM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 8:56 PM

I need to make an image using V3 with long (waist length) hair. The hairstyle needs to be something common, and not like a fashion runway look. (not that there's anything wrong with that look) What pay or free file would you suggest? Since there's so many good "hair" makers these days I can't keep up with them all. Thanks, Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

Swams hair is excellent...but also the new donna hair at daz is waist length. And Vampir3Princess Strike Ponytail at Daz is very easy to use and can make very long waist poses.

I was eyeing the Donna Hair. I have the Strike Ponytail, but that's not the "girl next door" common look I'm after (should have wrote that before0 I'll check out Swams stuff... here at renderosity? Thanks, Doug

You may also want to look up hair by "hmann". He has one that is called "total hair" that you can adjust the lenght as you want but it was created for V2, so it will take some adjusting. There is one called "Screen Hair" (that I don't own) for V3, but this may also work for you too. (:

Have you (can you) tried dynamic hair? Genesis haier fer V3 in freestuff here works great & can be easily adjusted fer length, as well as other cool mods (windblown, fer example). But if ya don' have P5 or P6....feel free to ignore me.

There are very few good waist-length hairstyles available, really. I have Screen Legend Hair, but it's hard to do a good waist-length morph with it. Past mid-back it starts getting too much out of shape. Dynamic hair has that problem too, if you're buying it and not making it yourself- there's always a point at which it stretches the style out of shape. Of the hair sets I have (I don't have all the sets mentioned in this thread though), Anton's Changing Ponytail for Vicki (at DAZ) gives me the best results for waist-length. It's an old set (made for V2, I think, though it fits V3 easily). Several of the long-presets can go to good waist-length hair by turning the length dial to 1.0. (Like most hair, it starts getting too out of shape after going past 1.0 on the length dial, but that at least gets you down to the waist.)

Thanks for the excellent ideas! I hadnt played with the Changing Ponytail in years, need to check that one first since it's on hand in the library. Doesnt Pretty3d use it constantly for their promo pics? Doug

Bliss vision hair can look pretty good long. I've had a lot of luck with making some of the Koz hairs really long...

Bliss Vision is excellent. I love the ease of posing it, and the look of it, and the fit and... hell I just love it. Never regretted buying it, never regretted buying the textures either.

Doug, Also remember that Netherworks has "hair fit poses" for many of the popular hair wigs so that they can be used on other figures. They are free on his site... look under freebies for morphs and kits and such. Wardrobe Wizard is also supposed to move hair between characters, but I haven't tried that yet. I wish someone would model a floor length hair. :sigh: BTW, Aeris is a nice model, but might be too glamourous for what you need. Carolly
