Animated or not? What i once tried and it didn't looked too bad was to use the dead tree and modified that and added a glowing material so that it looks like a lightning. But at RDNA you can find a weather package for Poser that includes lighnings and can be brought to Vue. That i use.

I have a lightning alpha plane in my free stuff section that you could try. Also I have Jasc Photo Shop which comes with a realistic lightning tube which could be added as post work. If it's animated lightning you want you could try to use the tutorial that comes in the Vue manual to create a distant flickering fire and adapt it to what you want. Hope this helps. Jim

For animation, you can light the whole scene with a bluish flat over-exposed point light with very sharp-edged, black shadows and then just turn that on for a short time (1 frame?) intermittantly. You could also do a lightning photo on an alpha plane, set the material with a heavy glow and flash that on as well. I did the above in another program (not Vue) and it worked well. Creative labs released a great thunder sound as part of their promo for their sound card a few years ago - you can probably still find it somehwere.

Save the 2 "strikes" off the page. (both are 512x512 images)

Load Vue, add an alpha plane from the shapes thingy on the left (the one with primitives).
Use the 1st piccy as the colour picture on the alpha plane.

Then Use the 2nd picture (white background) as the alpha image on the alpha plane.

With particle illusion 3.0 you can create storm effects very interesting, and to apply them in the vue infinite like rotoscoping
