THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: AGH!!!!... this was supposed to only happen to the other guy

Woe is me, woe is me. I been working on what seemed to be developing into a really good, object filled scene for two days. Having heeded the warnings others have posted here, I saved often. Problem is the last save I made seems to have saved corrupted. Bah! Hum bug! Any attempts to open it crashes Bryce. Bryce seems to be okay because I can open and manipulate other files okay. ALL WHO HAS EARS PLEASE LISTEN, MAKE MULTIPLE SAVES USING ALTERNATING FILE NAMES. DUHHH!!

Yuppers, now onto chocolate, then rocky road. I would get so many damn files in my work folders, when I finished....had to delete a dozen or so.

I sympathize (never had it happen, though I have had Bryce crash in the middle of a large scene before... not fun, especially if you haven't saved for a while). One thing, was it Bryce5 or Bryce5.5?

skiwillgee ( ) posted Sun, 07 August 2005 at 10:07 PM

Shinary2 Bryce5. I knew better, but until it happens to me, I'm a slow learner. Oh well, I know exactly how the image came to life and I think I can duplicate it much faster than first go round (skip the trial and error) I just had to vent to someone who has been there. May your life be forever free of "Bryce has encountered a fatal error. Do you want to send error message"

Heh thanks for the well wish but unfortunately I've gotten that error many times. I've never had a save corrupted though. I used to own an old 486/66 computer long after it was incredibly outdated. I had a lot of programs on there that it couldn't really run well. I had about two or three crashes a day... taught me to save often. So I can sympathize with you there. =) Hope getting your scene back isn't too much trouble, can't wait to see it.

Try opening the temp file, see if you can recover the scene that way...but yeah, always save under different names.....

Hmm, the pain and pleasure of Bryce, chronicles;) We all can empathize here, I'm sure.

I never intended to make art.

Yep, always two files: one name, one name + bu (for backup). It has saved me a lot of grief. I learned the hard way, too. :^)

Yep multiple files, or save a sync copy in briefcase and regularly update!

Bryster Cruel, cruel person. LOL =) I know it was a dumb ommission. I knew better, I know better, I must save often, I must save with varying file name, I must...... Maybe my admission of quilt will save someone else mega heartaches. By the way I have been doing back ups of works and files to CD all along for archive.
