THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Agh!!, Agh!! double Agh. anyone know whats happening?

Refer to my last post "AGH!!!...." Well I started over, saved double often alternating fm Filename1 to Filename2 as I rebuilt scene. The scene consist of trees, terrains, some primatives, and two imported objects (vicky and dragon) I have used in previous image with no problem. Bryce crashed when after about 4 hours of reconstruction, I hit "revert to saved". This was the first time I tried to open one of the files. They are both corrupt and cause crash. Any ideas what's happening or how to recover second evening (4-5hrs) work?

I just went back and did a quick work up of background and two terrains and imported the two Daz figures. It saves and loads okay so it's not the imported .obj files. the rest is pure Bryce after that. Is there a finite limit to number of polygons Bryce can load. It seems a dumb question since apparently I have memory enough to build and manipulate the scene initially. ???????????????? Hard disk sector problems????????? How do it check for bad sectors with out trashing all data?

hmm..if you have Photoshop (or Photopaint, or even Gimp), you might want to create several pictures and layer them..just a thought..

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

I had this happen just once and no idea what caused it though the file was getting large with a few imported items. After redoing the the scene, I made sure that "break link to DAZ" was clicked before saving again and it never happened again. Not sure if that was a factor but you might give a try and see? Good luck!

Burpee Tks for input Do you remember if Bryce 5 or 5.5? I'm not sure where/how "break link to..." located and used. Could you elaborate? I started scene third time. This time imported daz .obj early. I saved multiple times with 'save as' in increased sequencial file names. I would periodically start new and re-open last file to look for problems as I went. I got up to "filename19" with no problem; then it crashed. I open last known good file and started from there... worked some more with no problems. I began to think it was a memory problem. I finished the scene (semi) because I didn't want to press my luck. I cheated some lighting in post instead of using Bryce and omitted placing a third Daz .obj . I'm about ready to post the scene. I'll reference it here so if viewing scene might give a clue to what's going on

William, am using Bryce 5.5. The "break link to DAZ" is only if you imported through the DazStudio button in your Bryce5.5 desktop. If you imported through FILE/IMPORT OBJECT, then it has no effect. Break Link to DAZ is in the task bar OBJECTS menu. Hope this is clear? Nancy

Burpee Nancy, I believe I remember your name, that is a feature of 5.5. I'm still using bryce5. Thanks for the info though, I'll probably need lots of insight when I upgrade (probably waiting for 6.0) Call me Willie, William to formal
