Subject: Women?

bjoru ( ) posted Fri, 23 February 2001 at 9:46 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 2:33 AM

I'm new to Vicky and, in addition, I don't understand Poser women. Who can tell me the difference between Vicky, Eve, WWG and the Poser 4 woman? Does everybody have their own texture maps, not usable for anyone else? And, who has the lead (clotches, skins etc.)? It seems to me that Vicky is a little behind. Is she difficult, or only too young? And, another question. I've downloaded some cars, looks good in Max, but in Poser the shadows on fenders, doors, hood etc. looks dented (converted by 3Dexploration as OBJ). Am I doing something wrong, or is this normally the result?

Vickie is behind because she is newer. Mike is worse off because he is even newer! However, there are three characters out there that solve the clothing shortage problem for the time being, yet have the Millinium Couples heads on them- Bobby, Polly and Paul, all of which are on my site. As for Eve- I believe she is a remapped version of Vickie. Not sure... I seem to recall an advanced P4 fem called Eve at one time. WWG is the P4 fem with ..errr actual modeled in "privates". The basic P4 fem, AKA Posette, is what came with Poser4, and is perhaps (to date) the most used of any of the Poser characters. She has the lead in everything- Clothes, textures, etc.

I think the Mobius smoothed figure was based on the Poser3 female, not the Poser4 one.

The Evolution of the Nude Female Figure in Poser. Starting with Poser 3. 1- P3 - Posette - stock figure - head1 - head and body map in proportion - textures: low resolution on head 2- P3 - remapped as Big Face version - head portion of map enlarged and isolated = better textures on head - free submission by floydd 3- NYW - (Nude Young Woman) Zygote sale item - mapping similar to Big Face - head1 : P3 head morphs work, nail morphs work - rest of body just different enough that all new morphs must be made. 4- WWG - P3 Posette with a detailed genital prop incorporated into the hip group - P3 hip morphs invalid but other morphs unchanged - Mapping based on Big Face , but with two new materials and hip mapping changed - Big Face map works for most materials, free submission by Hellborn 5-P4 - Posette - stock figure - mapping similar to Big Face - head1 : P3 head morphs work, nail morphs work - rest of body just different enough that all new morphs must be made. 6-P4 - with improved joint parameters by Fredrick - morphs and textures for P4 un affected. free submission 7-P4WWG - P4 Posette with Hellborn's detailed genital prop incorporated into the hip group - P4 hip morphs invalid but other morphs unchanged - Mapping based on P4 , but with two new materials and hip mapping changed - P4 map works for most materials, free submission by NdYVO4 sponsored by Travler. 8-Eve v1 - P4 with body groups recut and buttock groups added - mapping unaffected - New morphs required for central body groups - P4 morphs for head and elements beyond elbows and knees still work. P4 clothing will not conform properly - the body groups do not match up - free submission, a major improvement by Torino (Steve) 9-Eve WGen (v2?) - Hellborn's hip transfered to yet another character - Totally different mapping - new hip morphs needed. free submission by NdYVO4 sponsored by Traveler. 10-Eve v3 - Eve wgen - Remapped to match P4 maps and Bushi's Real Eye Props incorporated.,free submission - Traveler 11-Eve v3.2 - some minor changes to v3 and morphs included in the CR2, free submission - Traveler 12-Victoria - Zygote sale item - A step higher in figure quailty - Includes the improvements pioneered above with the addition of a higher mesh density for better quality morphs and better qualty texturing. Transmaping eyebrows added. Uses the groups introduced with Eve so P4 clothing will not conform properly. All new textures required and also introduces the use of layering of texture maps. There is no genitals prop but there are vertices added to the groin area which allow for passable morphing to be done. Because this is done with morphs rather than a prop, the texturing problems encounted with P3WWG vs P3 , P4WWG vs P4 , EvewGen vs P4 do not occur. 13- Millie - Victoria with minor remappping and a new material added. All of Victoria's maps work as do the morphs. The lips and nipples are enlarged and overlays the entire map (a third layer) - allows more detail. The vertices in groin are assigned their own material and mapped as a fourth layer. free submission - Jaager I hope this clarifies the situation somewhat, Jaager originally posted at Renderotica

Missed the original of this at R'otica. Nice to see our little contributions of long ago remembered. (Heck, even I didn't know some of the info above) Thanks Jaager. -floydd Nance

Gee, thanks. I'm printing this out and saving it in my Poser notebook. Finally, NOW WE KNOW...

I've deleted my earlier post to avoid confusion with Jaager's excellent history. J, can I add this to my site's forthcoming PoserFAQ?

Jaager ( ) posted Sat, 24 February 2001 at 2:43 AM

Duane, Yes. You may use it.

wal ( ) posted Sat, 24 February 2001 at 4:25 AM

Jaager, thanx for the info. Now a list of URLs of "where to get which one" would be very nice ... Duane, I'm looking forward for your FAQ! - wal

There's a number 14 on that list now. VWGTI at http://209.92.41.204/Poser is Victoria + the extra bits from Eve.

What number would Polly be? :o)

Where can Millie Be found?

Jaager ( ) posted Sat, 24 February 2001 at 7:50 PM

This was an old article- pre Morph World change. At present she is only available as a part of Saluda. I now have Web space and a domain name, but The file is too large and draws too much bandwidth for me to care to support on my own. The morphs and textures will be back as soon as the HTML is developed. Millie, herself, is slated to become an item in the Renderosity store on the 16th next. But the geometry will only be a background for the new dynamic to the whole Vicki world that she will provide.

I read, and I learn... Thanks to everybody!

duanemoody ( ) posted Mon, 26 February 2001 at 1:57 AM

Jaager: I'm starting to think this should be done as a family tree diagram to fit folks like Latexa in, not to mention the trannies such as Bobby and Tagosaku. Thoughts?

Jaager ( ) posted Mon, 26 February 2001 at 8:55 AM

I think the first figure that used an altered geometry (not at least the first significant one) was by Mobius. There have been several since. It has been my observation that figures which involve a significant change in the basic geometry have been poorly supported. I did not list any, save NYW. If you wish to edit this to include these sorts of figures , I have no problem. Me as first author and you as second author or as an editor is perfectly acceptable.
