Subject: I have a Question for all the RDS masters out there!!!!!

Can Carrara import RDS models? Well specifically Battlesuit: Ray Dream Studio 5.0 From the Renderosity store. Any insight would help. -Deberus -Info on suit: This is a fully detailed suit of powered armor or battlesuit. The concept behind the model is the near future so I tried to incorporate features to give the suit a military feel. The joints and actuators are fully poseable and controlled using set links and if you own Poser 3+, the hands are also fully poseable. The model itself is based around the default Poser 3 male. Included in the model are details such as harness points, individual filter vanes and extendable stock on the gun. The files are formatted with the shaders embedded and are included separately for you convenience. You must have the Poser plug-in and Poser 3+ to gain full benefit from this model. In the event that you do not own these, the hands are included as WaveFront OBJ files. Also included is the gun with shaders in RDS format for use with the Battlesuit.

Deberus, I tested the Battle Suit for the On-Line store in Carrara. Carrara can import RDS scene files. But - The prodcut uses the Poser plug-in that is only available for RDS. But - The creator of the suit included the hands in OBJ format in case you dont have the Poser plug-in or are using Carrara. Its a very nice product. I didnt pose it in Carrara to much .. but it should be fine. The textures imported fine and the textures rock. jbezorg did a really nice job on this product. If you have any more questions please feel free to post or E-Mail jbezorg directly. Best Regards, Clint

You'll lose all the smothing data when you import a RDS model into Carrara - so if you made any creased angles in RDS's vertex modeler, they will all smooth out in Carrara - it's a pain in the a$$. I don't know the solution for it, and for complex models like the suit it a pain to fix. Does anyone else have any imput on this?
