Subject: Setting up a MAT

Hi All
Have things changed in Poser 6?

I notice I have had troubles with some MAT's not working in Poser 6 that were made for older versions.

I was following a tutorial on how to do MAT's for Poser 4/5 and had some problems. I've changed the Material settings in the Material room, then saved it as a cr2 file in the Figures folder. However, when I open it in Notepad/Wordpad I can't find the bits that are referred to in the tutorials.

I also tried setting it up by saving directly in my Pose folder but that didn't work either!

Any help would be great.

I should note that the thumbnail worked out great though..... But that doesn't help me much!

As I said in my reply to your other post, I think you should download MatPoseEdit, available in the freestuff section here. It is very easy to use. In the options, you can set it to create a Poser 5 mat pose and you can set it to show version number 4.01 so that previous versions of Poser can use them too. You load the model, say no to "Load morphs", then select all the materials for one texture map and apply the map accordingly. Then you select the other material zones and do the same. When you're ready, you save the file AS a pose file. After you apply the matpose in Poser you can render the image at 91x91 and export the image as a PNG for the thumbnail.

if your just making them for yourself (or other p6 users) you can make material collection files in the materials room.

Ok... I've figured out how to use MAT Pose Edit and have it working for the main bustier with a MAT to set it to the green texture. I think it will only work with Poser 5/6 though. In any case I might release this one soon into the Free Stuff section. Or I might make a few more textures first and then post a collection. Have to see what the file size comes to. So far so good though :)

If you created the matpose with MatPoseEdit, it will work in previous versions of Poser too. Only thing that could happen is that Poser4 users might get an error message saying it's not the correct version. But you can set MPE to indicate version 4.01 even if you save the matpose in P5 format.
