Subject: Need some help exterminating internal vertices in Max.

Is there a simple way to detect the external faces of a complex mesh object with internal vertices? I want to remove all hidden vertices and keep all the visible ones. I love poser, I really do. Only problem I have with a project are some hidden internal vertices. Sure pose a figure, add some clothes and hair export to 3D Studio Max and then try to remove all the hidden vertices. The job is Herculean in trying to remove them by hand. Boolean operations sort of help after capping holes. Is there some smart way Max can detect the exterior surfaced and remove the interior mess? I've tried using ClothReyes with it's surface detection ability with little success in making a mold. If anyone can tell me an automated way to remove internal vertices or capture the external ones, please drop me a line. I'd really appreciate it.

When you say "hidden", do you mean that some vertices are obscured by others? IE a womans leg might be obscured by her pantleg? If this is what you mean, the way to grab and delete her leg vertices is to add an edit mesh modifier to the whole scene and then select faces by their material. Continuing the example, the leg faces have a different material than do the pantleg faces, so you should be able to grab just the faces you want and delete them. Another method is to again use the edit mesh modifer and use the "element" selector. It allows you to select groups of connected vertices.

Yes, granted I could export a figure wearing pants without the figure's legs and hips. If I connect the pant leg cuffs to the shin capping them off, I want a means for max to remove all the vertices that I do not see or need that are above the cuff hidden within the pants leg.
