Subject: V3 expression morphs. Confused....Please help!

Ok...So I got the lovely Rebirth of Innocence : Kelly 2 from Mahna & Morris.

I loaded V3 sr2 into a scene. Applied the Kelly 2 pose for the morph and for the mat. I then applied the V3 expressions morph inj pose. Now most of the expression dials, e.g. smile 1 (in the head) do not seem to work. I checked for sure that I applied the expressions morph inj to the correct figure and indeed to the head. I'm using Poser 5 with the latest service release. Any idea what I did wrong and more importantly is it fixable? Did I do the load in the wrong order?

Are the inj morphs compatible with all the various versions of V3 that I have in my Daz People folder or should I only be using the sr2 (or the SAE or the SR1 or new gen or new gen2)?

Do I need to check each V3 character product to see what version of V3 it was built for or can/should I always use the latest base figure?

Thank you very much if you can help me.

Jovial.

Generally most characters should work with the latest version as of the time the character was made (in fact RMP requires that of any new characters submitted).

Have you loaded all of V3's head morphs prior to loading the expressions? It's a PITA but has to be done on occasion. Check the readme and see if the head and body morphs are required.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Is V3 the only Millenium 3 figure in the scene? If not, P5 and P6 tend to get confused, and the morph dials won't work. What I usually do is load a Millenium 3 figure, apply the texture, body/head morphs and expression morphs, and then save the figure to the figure library. Then it'll work in a multi-figure scene too. This trickk often works with ERC clothing too.

The SAE figure already has the expression morphs loaded, and is the current version.

Thanks for all the help. it seemed to be that the head morphs were needed before the expressions would work (even though the character seemed to have the head morphs loaded). I am still a little confused but at least I have a working solution. Thanks again.

Pre-SAE injection poses will try to read the external files (delta, with the actual morph data, and chanvis, which make the morph dial visible) before they set the value of the dial: that's why it's looking for the files. You can either delete the readscript lines in the pose for those morphs or, somewhat easier if you have a lot of poses, create dummy files - empty text files renamed to match the delta and chanvis files for the expression morphs.
