Subject: Goth for M3?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2005 at 10:42 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 1:22 AM

I need some help here. I've got a request for a ... uhm... Lucius Malfoy dressed in "goth clothes" But, allthough I have at least an idea of what said attire would include, I'm not really into all this goth thing. So can anyone recommend me something that would really scream GOTH?! I've got loads of pale textures so that part of it is not a problem. But I need some pointers to clothes I can put Lucius Mike 3 in and have him look goth. Thanks in advance. I do not expect it to be free, but of course that wouldn't make it worse L

Hmm, Dodger's Goth outfit over at Daz with Ravnhearts textures, then the goth stuff for Mike over at RDNA.... I'll send you a PM.
Don't know of anything free of the top of my head, though...

The victorian stuff at DAZ in the PC would probably be a better match from what I remember of Lucius' clothing.

I dunno, might be fun seeing Lucius in Muggle-style Goth gear like Dodger's. Harry of course would have talked him & Sev into it, there'd be much pouting and snarking but the brat threatens no nookie tonight unless they give in, soooo... ;-) Hmm, think you might wanna check your IMs over at Raunchy, TG.

Thing is, there is not ONE goth style. I'm used to go to goth parties of festivals, and i would find difficult to find a common ground between the different "schools" of goth clothing, except the use of black. For a "romantic goth", you may try a long coat, like the one in the "vampire hunter" serie at Runtime DNA, associated with some black pants inside black boots and a "poet shirt" (i remember getting one at poserworld long ago) or a "pirate" style shirt. Bleechy long hair and a pale texture (like Samildanach's) would complete the overall effect. Definetely one goth style. If you prefer a modern "electro" goth style, then you'll need any type of latex/leather outfits, provocative. In both cases don't forget the jewels. Silver claws, big rings, skull earrings, maybe some jeweled cross or a nice pentagram as a necklace. Some of them may not be that easy to find in Poser though... The link is the closest thing to a goth man i've posted in here, if that can help you defining your needs...

Wow! That's simply awesome, Merlin.

BrokenAngel9 ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2005 at 1:36 PM

I agree, there's more to Goth then plain black stuff chuckle I wasn't sure if that sort of attire was what you had in mind, so I skipped all the victorian things. anyway, hope all of us where of any help! BA

Merlin, cool image. What are the wings you used in this one?

ernyoka yeah like they said theres scads of goth sub-styles. I've seen goth guys in everything from full victorian (froackcoat, cravat, tophat), to latex pants and fishnet shirt to bondage pants to full drag. So ... you've got options. Here's a link to photos I took at the local goth club and you should also check out the clothes company "lip service" and store "hot topic" for more ideas. and lucius is practically wearing vampire-goth already .. just use darker, richer colours :)

Gorgeous image! I'm a fan of grey scale images. Awesome creation!

It occurs to me that there would quite likely be a sort of Goth Wizard style, quite apart from any attempt to copy the Muggles. And it would have the antique element. And some ambiguity as to whether it means anything darker. That picture certainly is headed in the right direction for that.

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Tue, 06 September 2005 at 2:32 AM · edited Tue, 06 September 2005 at 2:33 AM

You know, we think of Harry P as a schoolboy, or dressed like a fairly respectable Muggle teenager, but the last couple of books open the possibility of Harry as an angsty Goth teen.

Ron, Harry, and Hermione are now (end of Half-Blood Prince) old enough to legally do things in the UK which would be a bit shocking, at least, in the USA. Harry is the youngest, and the final book will more-or-less start with his 17th Birthday. Ron and Hermione are going to be 18 before the end of that school-year.

It's hard to shake off the film-casting but I can certainly imagine a bunch of hot Goth teen wizards kicking ass.

Ron: Gosh! Hermione, I thought you didn't want to be noticed.

Hermione: They won't be looking at my face.

Ron: Gosh! Hermione, I thought you didn't want to be noticed. Hermione: They won't be looking at my face. You know, that SO begs to be rendered L Mmm... Perhaps I should start working on a Hermione-morph...

To be honest, that strikes me as a trifle uneven picture. Without the rather obvious HP, there's nothing to tie the characters to the fictional world. I'm not sure I would even recognise the actors/characters. Ever heard of Veronica Lake? And I can't avoid thinking that Ron Weasley shouldn't be that good at the Goth look. It's an interesting figure to look at, and try to figure out which bits work, and why. Yours? Or where did you find it?
