Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.

Uhm, I fervently hope you're writing about a Poser 5 demo, if you got the full application by e-mail it's warez, and that's not tolerated here. You can download the Poser 6 trial edition from www.e-frontier.com (see attached link). I strongly advise to download the Poser 6 trial and browse the manual (the PDF files that comes with it). The manual isn't very good, you'll probably have more questions. Feel free to ask, but make sure you don't use illegal software! The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
NO, I dont use illegal software....and yes she sent me a demo she had. I also used Poser 6 demo....it really doesnt teach you anything but how to move the model and make changes to it. She thought the poser 5 would be easier to handle but its about the same. I guess I will buy the Poser 5 or 6 this week and try to figure it all out...but I can tell you I am sooooooooo lost about now...lol. I f I chose poser 5 what models can I use there...same as Poser 6. And how can I upload them to the curious lab?

Glad to hear you're using legal stuff! Poser 5 and Poser 6 are about the same difficulty to learn. Poser 6 tends to be more stable and has better lighting options, so if you're going to buy, I'd recommend Poser 6. Poser 6 comes with James (adult male), Jessi (adult female), Ben (boy) and Kate (girl). And you can download the Poser 5 and 4 figures from e-frontier after registering. I've found Poser 6 very good value for money. What can you add to Poser? Just about anything. People, clothes, hair, landscapes, buildings, animals, plants, you name it. Both commercial stuff (you can buy here, at www.daz3d.com, at www.runtimedna.com, and other places) and free - check out the freestuff section here on renderosity, it's VAST. Most clothing and texture sets are for the DAZ people: Victoria 3, Victoria 2, Stephanie Petite, Michael 2 and 3, David, with Victoria 3 being the best supported figure overall. How do you install new content to Poser? Most of the content comes packaged in .zip files, unzip them to your main Poser directory and everything goes where it's supposed to go. I'm not sure if this also works in the trial versions though. And if you want some good tutorials, search for "geep" in the Poser forum. He has written hundreds of easy to follow tutorials, ranging from absolute beginner stuff to very advanced. You'll probably run into more questions while playing with the demo. I'd suggest posting those questions to the Poser forum, there's much more traffic there. THe Poser Technical forum is mostly about the gory details of the inner workings of Poser, about tricks to make it do what it wasn't intended to do. Your questions are more general in character and fit the purpose of the Poser forum better. Have fun, Steven.

There has never been a Poser 5 demo. The only legal way to test drive Poser (other than sitting at a friend's machine with a legal copy installed) is the download address I linked. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. A friend of mine sent me Poser 5 in an email....and I have played with it some but...I dont know how to dress her or add things to Poser (Curious Labs). When I add they dont show up. What things can I add in Poser 5, such as model wise etc. Plus, how do I save so I can open an image in Photoshop? Or, is there someplace online I can go that will show me all the above and more that I need to know? Thanks!
