Ever do a scene and it actually turns out better than what you had in your mind's eye before you began? I'm really happy the way this turned out. Thanks to originalmoron for the "Greebled Torus", "Jet Plumes" & Cargo shuttle hauler thingie. I'd also liked to thank all the gods here in the forum for sharing your techniques. C&C appreciated.

bloody good job. 1. what is up with the smoke over the 'portal thingy'? it dosent look right. 2. the glare in / on the portal. dosent look good. other than that a bloody good job. the particals from the engin look great.

The smoke is supposed to be part the nebula's gases in front of the space station. The portal thingie is an enormous derelict space station. The glare is a nearby star. I was going for that "sun rising from behind a planet" look. I guess I failed at that. :(

Nice scene but the nebula gas seems to be out of place or the scale of the station is unclear to explain it, I like the 'sun rising' effect, tho. I guess I will be a newbie until I learn how to do postwork from one of the paint programs to enhance my images like seemingly everyone in this forum except me is capable of doing. Good job, sir!

Nice work on the image, others have put in their comments on it so i won't. In answer you your topic question "You never stop being a newbie, cause you are always learning something new no matter how long you use a program for".

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

nice pic. I guess tehre's a difference between being a newbie and still having things to learn. I don't think of myself as a newbie, but sill got a lot to learn.
