thanks for showing us your steps sheila... you did a great job of removing the background!! i like both the color & b/w but prefer the color as it seems to give him more depth & red is such a great color :]

You did a great job on this Shiela :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

thanks guys!!!!! :) cindy, kemal also preferred the color version. i do like it; however, i didn't care for how his skin tones turned out. i could work on that though....try to reduce some of the red in his face. that spot on his forehead bugs me, as well as the spot on his nose and right cheek. if i worked harder on the skin tones i might like the color version better. perhaps i will later 'cause i do like that red shirt also! :)

Hard to commnet on his skin tones (in color) as I've not seen him (smile) but with nothing else to go on, I believe I like the color better, too. Just "warmer" to me. (good job on the background!)

I enjoyed your steps here Sheila. Did you try one where just the crayon was colored? That might have been fun. The colored one seems a bit warmer to me too, I have to say, though your gallery version is wonderful as well (that's 4!). Yes, you could do some further work on the color version to fix those trouble spots. Maybe even try laying the "sepia" over the color and adjusting the opacity. Super postwork! =o] ZOON!

Chuck...thanks a bunch!!!! :) Kort, i did consider doing a version with selective color...b/w with the crayon in purple, but i never actually followed thru with the idea and tried it. Perhaps i will give it a whirl with my gallery version as you suggested. Thanks a bunch, Kort!!! :)
