Wih Photoshop I changed this picture into the portrait an the right. I think it has improved a lot. I'm just just wondering what think of my "manipulations" with Photoshop?

I think it is a good job, but would like to give a little of my opinions on how I would fix it up, if you don't mind. I would have changed the background color to a different color than a gray, just not a becoming color in my opionion. I think I would have softened up the edges around where you cropped her out of the original picture. Now these are just things I might have done different. And please remember I am not an expert like some of these people here are. One last thing, I love how you lightened her up and how it draws me into her eyes. Almost feel like she is talking to me with her eyes... Okay, medication might be helping her talk to me, but still...I think they eyes are awesome.. Leigh

Heya, Definitely an image after my own heart, as far as Photoshop manipulation goes. I agree that the weakest point is the gray background. Something with a sharper contrast might work better. The way the editing softened and lightened the face is incredible, though. Keep it up! Malenchite

Yes I agree with above about the grey too. Not a big problem tho'. I am presuming you used one of the artistic stroke filters in Pshop. This might just be my own personal taste, but when I have used this kind of effect, I tend to use the same filter twice. The second time on another layer going in the opposite direction. A crosshatching stroke, I find it to be more natural that way. Thanks for posting this Splint.

the original photo exhibits a very compelling gaze from the subject...she is talking with her eyes, the digitalized image, enhances that..the background needs to be softer, and with some tiny movement of stroke.

Splint, you naughty bugger, don't you ever let your wife wear clothes? ;-) LOL, a neat filter effect, it really transforms the image into a completely different portrait. I don't agree w/others on the grey background though. IMHO it is soft and neutral enough to add a feel of pastel.

Very good idea Alpha...

I like it. I agree with the gray background and would like to see black with the edges of the portrait softened and blended into the black. I also agree with Alpha about the detail layer.
