Subject: Halloween contest deadline?

ithkinlore ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2005 at 7:55 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:31 PM

What was the deadline submission for the Halloween contest this year? Did I miss it? Actually, I didn't miss it. I had to enter a different pic because the moderators had issues with the first one I submitted. By the time I reworked it today,(10/17)and went to re-enter it, the Halloween contest was no longer there. Oh, well. I will be posting both versions of the render since I can no longer enter it. I will let you, the artistic community, be the judge of my work.(Blah, blah, blah, etc.,etc.)

Thanks,
Ithkinlore

Good isn't it? I got rejected because of the nudity clause as well - guess it was my fault for not reading correctly, however the killer came when I was informed that I would have to clothe my Gremilins I decided to give up....

How long does it take for uploads to reach the contest gallery, does anybody know? I got mine in at 11am CST, but there was no "submission successful" type of message after I uploaded, I was only taken back to the contest gallery. Does that sound right? I'm starting to get paranoid that maybe I had the submission page open too long before I uploaded...I know that can create a "false upload" on some sites (and I have a feeling this has happened to me here before in the normal gallery - argh!).

Tastiger: Even non-human creatures without "bits" can't be naked? Were the Gremlins "packing" any little surprises? It would be a hard call in a contest/genre like this - Demons and Monsters tend to get around "au-supernaturale". Any idea what tipped the scales against your gremlins? Cheers

No idea - have a look for yourself in the Mojoworld Gallery. I won't go on about it - the zombie call was fair enough but I am still shaking my head at the Goblins / Gremlins...

After uploading, you should see a "submission successful" message. Something about your image being held for review, with a promise that you'll get an e-mail when it's accepted. (Which is a lie. That message has been the same for years, and so far as I know, they never e-mail you.)

If you don't get that message, the upload likely failed. Re-submit.

So when does voting start? Anyone got any recommendations? There are so many images that I don't think I can look at them all. I've been randomly clicking on interesting thumbnails, though. So far, I quite like this one:

Just got an email reply to an enquirey - my image DIDN'T make it.

It's a high quality piece, so I may have to sit on the damn thing for a year to see if there's another comp I can get it into.

I guess I'll have to carve myself a Jack O' Lantern with a frown this year...

:(

So far I've liked the one with the big Monster facing off against the Tanks and the Moldy/Mossy Green Gas Mask face the most - was dissappointed nobody did a silly "Dawn of the Duck" pic or similar spin, heheh.

3DCommune's Halloween contest deadline isn't until Nov. 6, or thereabouts. You could try submitting it there.

Hey. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. My image somehow didn't make it. I thought it was uploaded; but was told by one of the mods that they never got it. I did the uploading around 12:40 the night before deadline. I really had a good one. Oh well, maybe I'll share it with everyone in one of the galleries.

bigjobbie ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 11:49 AM

I'd like to share mine too, but I finished it up while suffering a major bone-crushing headache (with added nausea - Oh Happy Happy Halloween!) because I thought it was a real contender - so I'd like that suffering to count for something (like Prizes!!) heheh. I submitted it an hour before closing and there's just no way to check a successful upload in that short a period of time and with a great need to go lay down and whimper. I hadn't seen the 3DC comp - I'll go see what that's all about. Cheers

Yeah, I might have to check out the Commune myself. Glad to hear that I'm not alone out here.
