Well, your graphics card is only used by P6's preview mode, and it's not totally necessary. (Any Open GL card should do) P6's Firefly rendering engine takes some getting used to, but it's really not that bad. With the wealth of P6's features, mainly in rendering and procedural shaders, I think you'll be very happy. (Not to mention Image Based Lighting and Ambient Occlusion) If you're not interested in photorealistic renders, then Poser 4 or even the free DAZ Studio will suit your needs.
Upgrading shouldnt be too steep a learning curve, the cloth room is fairly easy if you use the tutorials available, the hair room is quite complex but you don
t have to use it. The materials are complex but you can learn them gradually. The face room is fairly easy to use, though it still doesn`t give very good results. Most of the rest is the same as propack.

I bought P4, but then P5 was released just 2 weeks later. I still use P4 and am seriously considering Poser6. 1) Would updating from P4 to P6 be a steep learning-curve? 2) How important is OpenGL when using P6? My Graphics Card is a 3-year old GeForce4 MX420. It claims to support OpenGL, however OpenGL doesn't work in Vue4. Any advice will be appreciated ~Steve~
